Just saw a couple images on a posting on the local craigslist site. Looks like a plastic roof basket that covers the factory roof rails.

Anyone seen this before?

The angle of the photos leaves a lot to be desired, but I wondered if somebody else could identify this for me.

Doesn't have 4x4 markings or "trail rated" badging as far as I can tell.

I can't spot any branding marks from the pics no matter how I zoom in or enhance.

I did notice the Renegade fenders, though, and when I looked up images for 03-04 Renegade, there were several with that same cover. I wonder if it was an option.







EDIT Ok I've looked at close to 50 photos of Libertys with that particular rack. They did not ALL specify, but most did, and they were all Renegades, and all Year Model 2003. I don't know if that was an option exclusive to 2003 Renegade, but I didn't find one that specified anything different.

Ha! I've finally found reference to them on the board. They're lovingly referred to as Tupperware baskets/racks and were available on 02-04 Renegades. They were a trim option and could hold 'up to 60 lbs!' and apparently they crack if subjected to that kind of load. They were shown on some of the brochures holding such torturous loads as 3 sleeping bags, a tent, and a gym bag!

I guess they looked great but didn't live up to their appearance. Wonder if this guy would take $20 for his?

That's probably why I didn't find any modeled on 2004 vehicles, even from Jeep.

So, they are just cheap plastic racks. Still they look great.
