The parts that I purchased from Detroit Axle were quality parts back in 2013 when I replaced it.
I did take the time to pack it good with CV joint grease and reseal the metal end cover which required rolling the metal lip back into an outer grove like the OEM joint was from the factory.
As to others having early failures I cannot explain! Mine is still going strong with no issues.
CV joint failures usually occurs when a boot cracks open and all grease is lost and dirt and contaminants get into the joint and wear out the balls and races.
