Where pan connects auto.
Should be drop, clean, refill to appropriate level?
If you want the absolute best transmission pan gasket that requires NO glue or sealer of any kind and will not leak if installed properly.
Get yourself a LubeLocker Transmission Gasket PN: LUB-LLT-CRFE
Fits 68RFE, 66RFE, 65RFE, 545RFE, & 45RFE Chrysler transmissions
They are available online by several vendors like Summit Racing.
But as you stated, drop pan, clean both mating surfaces spotless and bolt up using the LubeLocker gasket. Just DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the mounting bolts!
Tighten by hand only, never use an impact on them.
Be sure and use only ATF+4 when refilling transmission with fluid. Fill until level is slightly over the full mark on the stick as these transmissions like a little extra fluid...
