So I finally got a chance to remove my rocker panel since I knew there was some rust underneath it and I want to repair it as much as I could before it got worse. Anyways, I was too late. I was able to take the rocker panel off but I don't think I will be able to put them back on. The rust is so bad that there are hollow holes. Part of the metal is so bad that it just broke apart when I was trying to sand it down. Has anyone encountered this? What was your solution?

My plan is to probably keep the rockers off. I prefer to put them back on but like I said, I don't think it will be able to hold it.
As far as the rust, I was able to sand down as much as I could an I am next going to use rust converting metal primer, like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001C ... UTF8&psc=1. And then paint over it.

This is what came to mind as soon as I saw your rocker panels. 4xGuard rockers from JeepinByAl.

I don’t know to what extent the original rocker panels need to be intact for these to secure to your Jeep, but I bet Marlin at JBA will know if these screw into the original rocker panel or completely replace them.

Need to completely replace the rocker panels
Several places sell ones that can be welded in after removing all rust

Those have small screws that go in under the door/next to the door sills. The main bolts go through the pinch weld under the Jeep. It probably would be ok but would merely mask the issue.

Mine looked pretty much the same and doors had some eczema as well. One local car "tinsmith" made new ones, heeled all the rash in doors and polished all scratches made by bushes while offroading. That all with less € than new panels would have costed with shipping, so if you can find a skillful car body shop, it might be an option.

I would advise you to leave original plastic panel guards away, if you really don't need them. The rust in almost every case starts from holes it is attached, together wits dirt what collects between them and rocker panels.
