wet door speakers

Hi all, is it normal that door speakers are wet after heavy rain?
My mechanic says it is unpreventable to stop water going inside the door because this is how this constructed. The seal is only on the outside. But is it normal thing to drip it on speakers?

Isn't there supposed to be a weatherproof 'cover' for them? a molded plastic thing?

It's been a few years since I replaced the regulators, and have forgotten.

Are the bottoms of your doors rusted out? Road spray will be a problem.
I have noticed my weather seal 'wiper' along the glass is 'not good' and need replacing.. and will allow a lot of water in the doors.. make sure the weep holes on the bottom of door are open, and allows water to drain out too.

When you pull the outer door panel off, there is a thick plastic seal that covers the door and this part is called a "Waterdam" or "Door Shield". The speaker sets into a recess in this plastic covering to protect it from the elements.
Mopar part number for front doors is 55235893AJ, it fits left or right sides.

That's the molded clear plastic 'sheet'? Ok, I was waay off! LOL I must be thinking of a different vehicle I have.
I'd say if it's gone, or modified to fit aftermarket speakers.. would sure cause wet speakers! I need to hunt down #1 for mine.

Note: They have to be glued to the metal door frame with some good elastic Urethane Adhesive.

Thanks man. I've got this seal but it not prevents water from cable and amplifier and that is what I noticed. So I think it must be that way, right?
