Post subject:  Leak I can't seem to pinpoint.
Recently installed CVs for driver/passenger, when I bought it there were no CVs in the diff at all just capped off by previous owner.

Bought new axle seal for driver side and installed it properly, evenly and flush. Put in the CVs and was able to drive around for almost a week without noticing any drips but today I noticed a good amount of oil on the ground under the front end and I followed it up to the Driver CV where it goes into the differential.

Anyone ever had an issue like this, I'm fearing it maybe something inside the front differential which is why the previous owner took them out in the first place. Any posts or tips I could get in order to diagnose this problem before it becomes even worse?

I believe that to be a logical assumption.
You know it's leaking.
You know where it's leaking.
If the PO wanted it to be just a 2WD, there would be no reason to remove the inner CVs.
The only reason to go that far is to cover up a problem.

OK, I'll bite...

There are only a few options for leaks to develop on the front diff. and really only ONE if you know it's coming from the drivers side. There is a seal, which you have replaced. What could the P.O. have done, other than physically remove material from the seal surface which I HOPE the O.P. would have noticed, to cause a leak from that end of the diff? I would say that you need to confirm a couple of things and then check a couple of things. Confirm that you purchased the correct CV axles for your model of Jeep. There are different versions for the gas or diesel Liberty, and many auto parts stores are known for selling the gas version to diesel owners unknowingly. I'm not sure they can even be installed on the wrong application one way or the other, but it might be possible. Also ensure the seal you installed was correct for your model, as places like RockAuto can often have the wrong part listed along with compatible parts on their website. Finally, remove the cv axle and check to see if the seat surface is clean with no nicks or dings and no obvious modification by the previous owner. The only thing I can think of would be if they used a grinder or something to remove and old seal or bushing and gouged the surface. There really aren't any other options here that I can think of!
