I have a keyless entry key and I’d like a spare. Are they insanely expensive or difficult to obtain? I’m assuming it’s a chip-key with immobilizer?

Also, how commonly are liberty stolen? Are they easy to steal or not?

If its the same as the export, a replacement from a dealer will cost you 2 arms & a leg!
If you go to a locksmith, they should be able to flash an aftermarket one for a reasonable price.
If you are getting a key, its worth getting a blank key cut so it can be used to get into the car when you lock your keys in it. Just hide it on the outside of the car. The blank will allow the doors to be opened but not run the car.

Do you have two working chipped keys, if so you can order replacement keys online, have them cut and program them yourself, but you must have two working chipped keys to do so.
The FSM tells you how to program a spare key provided you have two working keys. Let me know if you need the procedure.

Unfortunately I only have the one key

Dealer or locksmith with latter probably being the least expensive option. :banghead:

I purchased my '05 with one key (which was bent) and needed to get a couple of spares.
I purchased two transponder blanks from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y1 ... UTF8&psc=1

and had them both cut and programmed at Ace Hardware. Getting the key PIN was not a problem since the car is 15 years old and the security technology is no longer used by Jeep. The stealership gave me the key PIN over the phone. No questions asked.

Good luck!

Heck ya thanks! That’s the news I needed today.

Hmm this is a transponder key but it’s not a key fob with buttons. I wonder if that changes things?

AFAIK Ace can program both parts. I personally don't like the large and awkward key fob and find the plain transponder keys more the adequate.

So how do you do the remote locks?
