I installed a 2.5" Skyjacker lift on my KJ and installed Mickey Thompson Classic lock wheels with 265 75 16 trxux Interco tires.
The clearance in the front is the issue. The front clears because of the ARB bumper but the rear portion of the front tire contacts the
wheel well liner. I did cut away the pertruding section of the wheel well and bent back the pinch weld so that it is behind the liner .

I guess I have to go with a smaller tire or lift more because i cannot see how I can get any more space at the rear portion of the front tire wheel well .

I read where so many have done exactly what I have done but yet I am having issues . Have I done something wrong ??

One more thing. The Mickey Thompson wheels were supposed to give an extra inch of offset on each side but it looks like they may have more offset than one inch . Could this be the problem and is anyone else out there using the same wheels with success ?

Robert

I assume you're only getting the rubbing when you make a sharp turn, if so, just learn to back off the wheel a little when you hear it start to rub.
That's considered normal even with 245/75/16's.
If you need more height in the front you could do a 3/8" Clevis which would boost it near an inch.

The wheel is making full contact just sitting on the floor, I have not taken the unit on the road. Tomorrow I will remove a large portion of the liner, grind off the pinch weld and coat with undercoating. I will then try the 265 75 16 and the 245 75 16 to see what will clear .

I'm very interested in the 1 " clevis lift, but I haven't a clue to what you are referring to. I already have the Skyjacker 2.5 " lift so any more lift would help for sure for clearance. I'm a bit nervous about going more than the dreaded 3" lift that causes trouble with our cv joints. So you have done the clevis lift with success??

Robert,
something doesn't sound right here, is this a new Sky Jacker 2.5'' coil lift or a used one you bought off of someone? If it's a used kit, the springs are shot, because 2.5" should clear the wheel wells for the 265's and still support the ARB for awhile.

When I first installed my ARB and 265/75/16 TrXus M/T's I was using a RRO Combo 2.125" W/stock springs and struts and it cleared the tires fine.
After 5-6 months it started to sag and I did the 3/8" clevis. After this I added the winch, Rusty's H.D. coils and Rancho struts which held up about a year before sagging. Now i'm moving to the CRD coils and a new set of Rancho's and looking into synthetic winch line to reduce weight.
