Post subject:  KJ creams Dodge Pickup

I had a little fender bender when a four door dodge pickup stopped in the lane in front of me. I slammed on the brakes but ending kissing the rear bumper of the truck. The only damage I suffered was a cracked bumper cover even though I hit the reciever hitch ball head on. The truck bumper was pushed in at a 45 degree angle. I am amazed at how tough my Liberty is. Now if my insurance will just buy me an ARB.....

They will buy you an ARB. You just need to get some estimates and then tell you insurance company that you want to fix it yourself at you own shop. THen tell them you want to make a cash settlement. THe cash settlement for a bumper should be about $700-1000 depending on the bumper. Good Luck.

about a month ago, I was rear ended by a kid in a mini-van. He hit me going about 25-30 mph, and never even hit the brakes. I was stopped at a red light, when he pushed me into the car infront of me. My rear bumper paint was scratched, and the front license plate was bent. The van was totaled out, and I drove home. When I went to the dealership for repairs, the frame was still in line, and the gas tank needed a new strap, that was it! The technician was surprised how well the 2004 Rene held up!

The KJ is brutal in an accident! I got rearended by two Fords within 27 days of eachother; first was an Explorer, second was an Escort. Both hit me at about 25mph and got mangled. I'm pretty sure the Escort was totaled (hood was crumpled from the ground to the roof line) and d0amage to my jeep was almost imperceptable. All that happened was my tail gate got slightly indented. I ended up getting around $1500 total... took it to Tiajuana and got it all fixed (along with a previously existing gash) for $500. Is it just me or is our sheet metal thicker than your average? Either way, we definately drive a pretty safe and sturdy vehicle.

P.S. get uninsured driver insurance!!!

The she hit was a Grand Prix. It got hauled away on a flatbead. Hard to drive with the rear wheel pushed in at a 45deg angle, fender and door caved in all the way to the point the trunk was push out of line and over the finder. Funny thing is, this hit didn't even deploy the airbag...

Its awesome that the only thing broken on the KJ is the plastic, the bumper mount hardly even looks dented.

Glad she's alright....all the doors open and shut right still? Even though I totaled mine back in May I thought it was weird how none of the doors would open or shut properly...in fact once I opened the rear glass I couldn't get it to shut again...But nevertheless looks like it held up quite well...and your next rig might be the Coast Guard eh....I saw something on their Ice Breaker ships...pretty cool stuff...that doesn't happen to be one does it (i don't think it is)

Why would you see that as an ODD first post.Maybe a little off topic at first.
Since it was my first post I felt the need to give a little background as to what brought me to site.

Just that the topic hadn't had any new messgaes in one month yet we have tons of threads that are so current compared to that one. Then there's the new member introduction thread. Nothing negative meant about your post, just odd that you posted first on an old thread.

No offense taken. As I am a newbie I was reading the threads of interest and I felt the need to input my .02  Don't know what model Liberty the girl was driving, just know it was built to handle a few rolls.
