Hey Everyone.. Something I cant figure out and hope someone has some ideas. 04 liberty. Power door locks can unlock the tailgate but will not lock it. All the other door locks work fine locking and unlocking.

I don't here a click from the tailgate when I hit remote to lock it. I replaced the lock assembly, and it didnt fix it.

I ended up pulling the plug on the lock mechanism, so it wouldnt unlock it every time I unlocked the doors, and that helps for now.

I'm thinking I need to start tracing down wires..

Thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Jim

The same motor that locks the tailgate, unlocks the mechanism.
According to the wiring diagram for the 04, there is a "AJAR" switch on the lock motor.
I suspect this ajar switch prevents you from locking if it thinks the gate is not shut fully?

Thanks for the info. From the diagram it looks like the switch is part of the lock unit that houses the motor. Since I replaced that unit, maybe it isnt getting signal on that wire?
