I tried looking for this already, and maybe I'm bad at it, but I haven't found this question quite yet. Looking for experience from people who have used one or both tire sizes offroad. Looking to see how worth it the 245 is over the 235 in the real world. I'm settled on getting LT tires with a 2.5 OME lift on a 2004 Limited. I've read mixed reviews on the rubbing, mpg, and power loss that comes with 245. How much is it really? Will I have any rubbing or do I need to plan for bolt on wheel spacers? (Plastic inside wheel well is gone, it's just metal if that helps) I run mountain trails in utah and surrounding states. Are the pros of the 245 worth the cons? Or will I be just as happy with offroad performance on 235s? I know the obvious answer is regear and don't worry but aside from that, what's the thoughts of those who have gone this route before me? (My wife is also likely to get an offroad camper trailer, weights under 1000 lb, that we would end up bringing around) |

You might consider 245/70R16. I have been running Nikian Rotiva AT's inn this size for years on both of my Liberty CRD's. |

Thought about it, and I wouldn't want the additional rubbing and weight without the height bonus. So it's a question of does the 245 width create problems on my model kj or no? Is there really no difference or will I notice a bunch of little gains everywhere else from doing the skinnier tire? Or is the 245 gona be fine and I'd regret not having that extra traction and stance. |

fyi, With a 2" lift and 1/2" clevis spacers up front providing 2.5" lift of lift, I am on my second set of 245/75/16 AT (All Terrain) tires on stock rims, no spacers, and have never had any rubbing problems during normal on road driving.  IronMan Springs, Bilstein Shocks & Struts, IronRock rear upper and lower adjustable control arms. During off road extreme suspension articulation, you could encounter some slight rubbing at certain steering angles up front.

And where does it rub? Mines primarily an offroad use vehicle so what can I do to get rid of rubbing or is that not possible? |

Mine is a diesel with Yeti's Stage IV Hot Tune, so there is no problem with power, pulls like a tank. As to rubbing, you can do a little trimming and flatten out the pinch welds so they don't catch the tires when turning and flexing.
