Post subject:  CRD FUEL PRIMING fuse blown

The other day I had something unusual happen. I normally drive with a pretty light foot. Don't see the sense to accelerate hard away from a stop light, only to be stopped at the next light. Anyway, I was leaving a driveway onto a heavily trafficked road. I had to accelerate hard to blend in with traffic. As I was accelerating, the engine died as if I had turned off the key. I turned on my flashers and coasted to the side of the road. When I came to a stop, the engine cranked but would not fire at all so I started troubleshooting. Luckily I had a 12 volt test light with me, and began testing fuses under the hood. I found that fuse #17 labeled FUEL PRIMING (10 amp mini fuse) was blow. I replace the fuse and it started right up. What confuses me is that every fuse diagram I find on line gas or diesel shows that fuse space as being open.

I'm trying to find out if this was a one-off situation or an indication of something beginning to fail. I don't accelerate hard often, but I want to know that when I need to, I can. If it makes any difference, I installed an In-tank fuel pump about 2 years ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check your wiring! Connector under the left rear seat and the wiring harness where it passes through the body going to the fuel tank. Check the wiring harness where it goes to the top of the fuel tank and make sure you don't have any rubbed or shorted wires anywhere.
Accelerating rear hard causing a fuse to pop sounds like to me something moved causing the short.
You could also put an amp meter on the wires going to the pump to see how much current draw there is on the pump.
