Helping out my brother with his car and just needed some help. The car was turned on left idling outside like normal then when he came back outside it was off and it would crank and stay on for about half a second and die. If we let it sit for a while it would stay on for a little bit longer but that was it. I ended checking the MAP sensor and changed it out and it didn't do anything. (Granted I just got it off a junkyard car). Then we figured out it would stay on while giving it some gas. We got some new engine codes while I was messing with some sensors so I decided to disconnect the battery and let it sit so we could see if some of the codes would go away and it would help is narrow it down. Well now after reconnected the battery the car turns on fine and it will stay on without giving it throttle but there is a really loud knocking. It sounds like rod knock but I don't see how it would magically start making that sound after just disconnecting the battery. Not sure how to post videos but once I figure it out I'll post it Sent from my Pixel 7 Pro using Tapatalk |

It's a 3.7 V6! That doesn't sound good. It doesn't hammer like the rod knocks I've heard. Any chance it's something belt-driven that's causing the noise? |
