Hello, I am sorry if this has been posted before but I cannot find it as I dont understand the search function just yet, My underhood fusebox is so corroded I had to order a new one because while driving my Jeep died and wouldn't restart, no OBD power or fuel prime it would crank if i jumped the starter relay contacts, but the key would not crank it and the dash was lit up like a christmas tree, was so corroded at least 3 fuses snapped off inside the box. I have a 2005 Liberty CRD, My question is is the wires on the bottom of the box on connectors or do I have to splice everything in? |

Replacing the underhood fuse box is the right call if it is that corroded. On my 2001 Liberty, the wires were connected to the bottom of the box with plug connectors, so hopefully, yours will be the same, and it's just a simple plug-and-play swap of the new box. |

While it is a plug & play type of job, make sure you are prepared to find many of the connections to be badly corroded & so the plugs/sockets on the end of the loom wires may need to be replaced. I am suspicious that at some stage in the past, your jeep has suffered a battery failure/break, with acid spilling all over the fuse box. You may need to clean everything effected with sodium bicarbonate to neutralize the acid residue. I would also be coating all the connections with a suitable waterproofing sealant. There is no point in replacing the fuse box with nice & new, if the wires that connect to it are a mess. |
