any one ever heard of or thougt of swaping out the stock CV's for Porche 930. they've been used on VW Baja's for years and are able to acheive travel of 17"-18"? Cost is about $55 per CV. ...hum...... ![]() |

Yes, but with the right ammount of machining, they may work. Iv'e seen complette axles, CV's and boots for $400.00 a set. small price to pay inorder to get that much front-end articulation. definatly cheaper than a SFA conversion. |

I wheeled with a bunch of Toyota's this weekend and the CV angles they were running on their lifted IFS rigs was insane. ![]() There's gotta be some CV that can be swapped. (What ever happened to RRO's?) |

I had to change a CV boot on mine a few weeks ago and the joint looked like brand new. Only 6000 miles on the Frankenlift though. (17k total miles) However, the bearing/bushing on the diff felt like there was some slop in it. So it’s not just the CV’s that are a problem. |

A little of topic, but I was searching the internet and ran into these: http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/c-306_dana_44_third_members.htm Do you think they could be put in place of the D30a axle we have in our KJs? I know it probably won't bolt in, but they are 100x stronger and they are steel housings. Plus, you can run larger tires with a larger lift? Of course that brings us back to the CV axles. How do other IFS vehicles, like the WK, XK, Fords, etc.. run 5-6" lifts without CV axle problem? |

They use a cradle drop system and longer replacment knuckles similar to what Rock Krawler did with their 7Up lift, but no one out there has tried to tackle it after RK's disaster. |

davekj02, your'e right. there's gotta be something out there that can be swaped in order to get more travel. the cradel drop lifts are $2500 and up so any thing around $1500 would be an attractive alternitive. besides doing a SFA conversion, which in my opinion, adds fule to the fire of all the other wheelers who talk poo on the Liberty. why would i want to prove them right. any how, iv'e got a friend thats owns a macheine shop and is an avid off roader. he has offered to give me a hand in this issue. i will research TOY CV's. i didn't think of that, thanks. |
