Does anyone have the link to the write-up on adding a support to the front differential? Or, is anyone fabricating them for public consumption?

Thanks.

Dude! It took you right at an hour to get it on and back to the computer! Awsome work Mutt!

Looks great too. As much and as hard as you wheel, we should see how it does.

Are you guys torquing these collars down and if so, how many ft lbs? If not, are you just snugging them up?

It didn't take me but about five minutes to put it on, I had just walked in the door from work and was relaxing for a bit after my hour drive home.

I torqued it till it stripped out, then backed it off a quarter of a turn. Just kidding, I snugged the allens up really well, remember the collar will only close up so far on itself.

vxla, I purchased the collar from McMaster-Carr pn# 60665k61 on Eddo's recommendation, paid about $41.00 including shipping. Then I took it to work and spun the inside diameter out to 3.562" on a lathe. That is a sweet number 'cause it fit perfectly.

Hmm. I wonder where us lay-people can get someone to turn them on a lathe to such a specific ID. Any suggestions?

Find a little welding/machine shop. They shouldn't charge you more than $20.00, most shops have a minimum. Also, that ID isn't that specific, it's 3 and 9/16", it's just that I'm used to working in decimals.

Post subject:  Machining

I would go to infospace.com or just check your yellow pages for machine shop or machining etc. Someone who does engine machining or something along those lines might help you out with something small like this. I used to work as a machinist and we did stuff like this all the time. I would look for a small shop-- shouldnt take ten minutes to do it once they get to it.

Yeah, I noticed...........which one do you think fits better and is stronger? The difference is mine is machined and Eddo ground his by hand.

I did the collar but to me its still a hypothetical fix. Who's gonna push their KJ of jack stands onto the front end while heavy on the stupid pedal as a test?
