Where in Phoenix are ya ending up? I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Even around Phoenix there are a lot of places you can play around in.

Oh, and WELCOME to AZ & YES it's a dry heat.

Yeah, except during the monsoon season when the humidity gets up, then it's a muggy, sticky heat :P

"dry heat"

There's a t-shirt I've seen a few times here....it has a backpack and a pair of sandals on a skeleton and under the picture is the caption "Yeah, but it's a dry heat"...95 in Memphis is sweltering and 95 in Phoenix is a beautiful breezy spring day. 110-115 is life-threateningly hotter'n'hell no matter what the humidity is. And you sure picked a time to come here (start of the summer). Once you get through the summer you'll be amazed by the other nine months. And hey, there's always the option of gettin' a few thousand feet up into the air (Flagstaff, Prescott) in the summer where it'll be 30 degrees cooler.

Welcome to the glorious Sonoran desert. I've been here four years and am still made breathless by the beauty of the place.

i'm jealous, your leaving Memphis....I went out to AZ for Spring Break in March and loved it, visited Sedona, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, and that big crack in the ground Grand Canyon (had 6" of snow too which was awesome). Lots of awesome hikes in Sedona too, along with a nice rock road to trail heads like Devil's Bridge.

That's me with the arms in the air..."Look ma nuttin underneath this rock I'm standin on!!!"

Actually, the way things have been going the past few years, I figure we either aren't going to have a monsoon season or it's gonna come in gangbusters - got a gut feeling it's gonna be the latter.

Good luck with the move, TBJunkie. Hope to see you out on the trail down here soon.

I hope you're right...my gut feeling is that Phoenix has seen the last of the summer rains coming in buckets. The heat island just keeps pushing weather around itself and all we get is the humidity without the cooling rains. Ah well, that's what Prescott is for :-)

Well...I'm here...and seeing that gas buddy thing in my sig makes me miss Memphis for that reason...and that reason alone

the trip was uneventful, despite the 2,000 lb trailer and prolly 400 lbs extra (at least) inside the KJ.. and I need to wash the stinking jeep!

BTW rocky...was the KJ in your avatar sittin down at Wolfchase Chrysler for some reason or another while it looked like that?

Glad to hear that the trip was uneventful.

As far as the gas prices go... They've actually dropped a little in recently so count yourself lucky.
