AJ, have a great trip. To bad some of us have jobs, lol. Working hard now so I can play later. :) I can't wait for pics.

That 3rd or 4th weekend should work for me. AJ, most of the trails down this way are too crazy.

Thanks and we'll post up some pics when we get home.

Okay... you lost me. Too crazy as in difficult???

We're headed to our annual Halloween bash that weekend. So I'm out for the run. I'm not familiar at all with that area, either. I'd still like to help though. Dyna Team are you out there? (One assumes they are on some sort of adventure)

Not RCPM, Mike. This Halloween party is actually just a really elaborate and large house party in Carefree. We bring our pop-up and camp in their backyard. Too much fun and of course too many tasty beverages...

Looks like camping in the cochise stronghold saturday night with an alternate for either wilcox motel or an inn in tombstone at your choice. Ghost town runs saturday and maybe even a stop in tombstone for a little sasparilla!
Sounds like fun!

Which would be closer to the planned run area, Wilcox or Tombstone?

Wilcox is probably more accessible for this area. In addition there appears to be a B&B in Pearce.

Here's a helpful link to the area. http://www.cochisestronghold.com/

We can hit the ghost towns of Pearce, Courtland, Gleeson and some easy trails. Tombstone isn't too far out of the area either. Maybe a side trip to Big Nose Kate's or the Crystal Palace are in order. I'll see about doing some scouting in the Stronghold area in the coming weeks.

Don't forget Saturday night is the annual chili pot luck dinner. Everybody bring enough helpings of chili for your party plus one. We'll toss em all into a big pot and enjoy the blend.

Oh and costumes ARE required, or at least highly recommended for both you and your jeep.

"Back in October 2007 I was a young lad lurking on the LOST website when I ran across the Az section"
Az LOST was doing the Trick or Jeep at Lake Pleasant and I showed up unannounced and said Hi and somebody gave me a Jeep chocolate bar. I had my truck for barely 60 days and it was becoming obvious to me that Jeeping is going to be a wonderful thing. I could not stay as I had to work but I was hooked.

This cycles me into 1 year knowing this organization.

Count me in! Oct 25 - 26th weekend- I would not miss it for the world! Cochise Stronghold sounds like a lot of fun!

In a weekend or two, I'm gonna do some scouting. You will not find any of the trails in Wells or other books. And if you do, let me know. Sorry no pics right now on my part. Most trails will be mild 4x trails, mining roads and NFS trails. There will be some old ghost towns involved too. Ooooooowwwwhhhhhhooo spooky.

so you gonna make it Casey?

later,
mike

So, who all is coming, got a list going yet?

Where is the camp going to be located so we can find the closest motel to it or the trailhead?

Has a meeting time/place for Sat morning, Oct 25th been set?

Anything else needed besides some chili? Cornbread or something?

Thanks,
AJ

We're going to do a pre-run the weekend before if not earlier. We will post up details after that. At this point the basic plan is ghost towns and easy trails saturday then camp at Cochise stronghold saturday night for the chili fest

Vern... okay, thanks. Let us know as soon as you can as to where we're meeting Sat morning, so we can reserve a room somewhere.

Here's a map of the area. Not sure which campground area we will be at. You can see Dragoon Rd connect to I-10. It's pretty much a toss up to which is closer, Benson or Wilcox. Both are roughly 15 miles to the exit. I was talking to a co-worker who said one set of campgrounds was closed.

Pablo, if you want to take over, jump on in. You can set the date, time, to bring list ect part up.

Mike... I'm confused (easy to do as the years pass by). I thought the date was already set... the weekend of Oct 25~25???
