wonky transfer case here  - yes, it was an awesome day. The wife and I were very glad to be in such good company. Of course a special thanks goes out to Vern for giving my transmission a rest by strapping me up a few hills. If anyone ever has any questions about the Libby's abilities...!!

The LOST group is (from my experience) a rare bunch of folks: playin' as hard as anybody without acting like morons and serious as anybody about off-roading without being a bunch of snippy ego trippers. Great group that me and the Mrs. were happy to be a part of.

On the technical side: The Frankelift is thee premier suspension upgrade for the KJ!! Massive ground clearance and combined with the MT/Rs as sure-footed as a mountain goat. I only wish I had my low range so I could chase those Rubis up that hill! :P

Awesome day...look forward to the next one (and the pictures from this one).

First off, Thanks to everyone for the great time. My family and I had a wonderful time on our maiden AZ trail ride.

Is it fair to say we did parts of Martinez Cabin, Coke Ovens, and Box Canyon? Plus now I have some custom pinstripping.

Had a blast myself, great turnout! Welcome to the new folks, and some faces we hadn't seen for a while. Sorry about the small diversion. We actually did the coke ovens, part of the gila river crossing exit to Kelvin, box canyon, and part of Martinez cabin run. Long day but well worth it. What's our next run, any suggestions?

Yes, yes, and yes. We did ALL of Coke Ovens and Box Canyon, and about 90% of Martinez Cabin - From where we made the hard right turn to start up the Coke Ovens trail it is only about 1 1/2 miles back to Martinez Cabin, so now you know what to expect if you want to go back.

I just got the photo CD back from CVS, I'll go thru and see what they look like then send them on to people.

Funny... doesn't look that bad. I guess I had a different perspective.

I had a blast! Thanks to Travis for letting me ride shotgun, and thanks to Kevin fo putting together a great run. It was nice seeing everybody and meeting a few new people. I am copying my pictures on to my camera. Most came out, but I took more shots of scenery than I did of everyone's rig. If someone wants copies just let me know. They are pretty big in size so if I send them via e-mail I will have to shrink them down before hand.

That was my first time out to that area and I'm already trying to see if I can afford a 4x4 KJ.

Until then, someone throw out an idea for a 2WD w/o a locker/lift. I REALLY want to take mine out with everyone. Kevin... You were saying something about 4 peaks last night. Is that something even those folks w/ 4x4's could enjoy without getting too bored? :D

Mike - I just posted elsewhere that I think the most scenic trails in AZ happen to be some of the least hardcore. Just north of Flag is O'Leary Peak and just north of Payson is the Mogollon Rim. Apache Trail is a breathtaking dirt road scenic drive that could be done in a 2WD sedan. There are many more but off the top of my head.....

Yeah, I've been meaning to do that one for a while - it goes out from Apache Junction, up and over to Roosevelt Lake.

As for Four Peaks, going out there are some spots that some of the more hard-core guys could play in, just depends on how much time you wanna give 'em to do it :) I think one of these weekends when I get some camping gear I might like to go up there overnight and catch a great view of the valley.

Seth, thanks for the picture. I was hoping someone caught me at that spot. Kinda like Mike was saying, from out here it doesn't look nearly as wiggy as it felt behind the wheel

Maybe one weekend (if I have another one off) I will have to snag my brother and go check a few places out. I may go hit up a Barnes and Noble and pick a book on some of the trails out there. I'm used to just playing in the mud (when/if we have it), but I'm getting itchy to start buying some presents for the libby.

Go and pick up a copy of Charles Wells' 'Arizona backroads and 4-wheel drive trails', and if you don't have one already a copy of the DeLorme 'Arizona atlas and gazetteer', which has medium-scale topo maps with a lot of the roads that trails follow.

While I am thinking about it, in regards to the State Land permits, I would highly recommend that anyone who is planning on wheeling get one. They are only $15 for one year (from date of issue) and help the state to keep the areas we like to wheel in open. Considering how many of the trails in the Phoenix and Tucson areas are on ASLD land, having one just plain makes sense. More info is available on the Arizona State Land Department website.

Ok... I will have to pick those up soon. I just downloaded the state land permit app.

OH, and now I must bow my head in shame. Roachman... MVD hasn't modified personalized plates. I just checked and it's still 7 characters. I called a friend of mine that works for OSI (MVD's investigations division) and he said that there was discussion of expanding it to 8 characters, but that it was never approved since their didn't seem to be a need for it. Sorry for the mis-information.

Nice pics Travis :D Just to let everyone know, I've got most of the write-up for the azlostkj website done, I'm just waiting for a couple of people who said they were sending pictures. So if you've got some you want included, let me know. Seth and Jim, I already have yours - thanks.
