Well as of Saturday I am a sworn in member of the US Army (Private First Class). I leave on August 29, 2006 for Basic Training then to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX for Med training and to serve my time (pending my bloodwork and everything else comes back ok). So if at all possible I would like to set up a run for sometime between now and Aug. 29th. Throw some dates out there for me if you can and suggest some places, I would love to make one more run with all of the great AZ LOST members before I go into the hardest 9 weeks of my life.

Wow, that came out of left field :? Beth, it just isn't gonna be the same in AZ with you gone. I think we can throw together a farewell run for ya  I'd really like to see that CJ on the trail before you go. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, and San Antonio is in the heart of the muggy Texas hill country, so try and stay dry out there...

And thank you for volunteering to serve our country (we really, REALLY need that saluting smiley) :D

Well I am not sure you will see the CJ, I might have to hop in with someone. I am bringing the CJ to base with me and going to become really good friends with some of the mechanics on base  . I will be back in AZ from time to time...my family lives here.
I know it is short notice but I would love to run with you guys before I go.

Best of luck, Bethany! I'm sure you'll really enjoy your little two month 'basic vacation'. I'm sure we can muster a run prior to the 29th!

Very cool, congratulations Beth, we're proud of you!
We have a run on our calendar for Saturday August 19, 2006. Kevin mentioned he might organize a Harquahala peak run that day. I might be out of town visiting my brother that weekend so I may not make it. I could possibly make an early august run if that would be better. What days are you thinking?

Tell ya what Beth, why don't you think of a couple of places you'd really like to wheel and we'll see what we can do to get a run together. I figure since it's your last run you should have the main say on where it is. If you're totally undecided then just say so and we'll let the group at large throw out suggestions.

Thanks, I am pretty excited :D
Hmmm...it would be great to see everyone, although I understand it isn't too likely. Lets see maybe either Aug 5th(Saturday) or August 6th(Sunday). Who would be able to make it either of those dates?
I am pretty indifferent to where we go, since I am not going to be driving I'll have you guys decide.

A Saturday would be better for me than a Sunday but name the place...gaining elevation would mean losing degrees...Sedona? Rim Country?

Can't make the 5th. Could make the 6th.
I up for anywhere, water would be nice. We could pre-run Walnut canyon for September, mountains probably too far for me for a day trip

Actually Vern, I was thinking the same thing. Sorry I haven't gotten back to this, it just kinda slipped to the back of my mind. So anyone else interested in running Walnut Canyon? Or maybe somewhere down south? I know it would be cooler up north and I may want to head that way later in the month. Lets also try to set a date. I'm good for either the 5th or 6th.

The Coves are on the north side of Saguaro Lake. To get there you go out to the Butcher Jones rec area and take a dirt road out of the north side of the area. Then you go out thru The Rolls where there is lots of fun wheelin'. Sycamore Creek and the road to Four Peaks are also in this general area. I'll post up an overhead from google earth later tonight (once I reinstall my ftp software and figure out the connection settings again). NOTE: Butcher Jones is a fee area, but if you are going thru to get to the Rolls/Coves you don't have to pay.
