On my way to Moab I’ll be driving thru Sedona and all the books say “Broken Arrow” trail is a must do trail. So I have a few questions. Has anyone had their Liberty thru it and down “The Steps”? Is it safe for me to do it solo, is a spotter required? Last weekend I put an ARB air locker in the rear so that should help. Are there any other trails that you might suggest? Dave |

my stock liberty made it threw there no problem other than a few scrapes on the skid plates. id say the steps are fine to do without a spotter. I didn't attept them because i was alone, stock and didnt want something to happen with no one around. my avatar is sort of the entrance to the more tuff stuff on the trail. while down there i'd go to soldgers pass. not as tuff but still fun. |

I did solo. It really not bad. When right down it without a problem or a scrap. Just don't try to drive down it at 20mph like the Pink Jeeps do you will be fine. |

Thanks for all the input. I thought it would be a good trail to go solo because because of the Pink Jeep tours. They might not help me if I get into trouble but they would call for help if needed. Happy trails. Dave PS great photo |

I checked out Soldgers Pass in the Wells book. His problem is he marks almost all the runs Difficult. Are you saying that my Lift, Lockers and skids would make this an easy run? I'm tempted to also run this solo because it’s close to town and short if I get into trouble. Thanks for the advise. Dave |

Thanks for the advise. Dave Your lift locker and experience will make this trail easy. I'd rate it about a 3 according to how they rate the Moab trails. The hardest part is trying to stay on the trail. There are numerous off shouts. |

Dave PS great photo I ran this trail several times in an almost stock Land Rover Discovery 2 (only upgrade was 265/75R16 Mudders). The trail is really fairly easy. All of the obstacles have VERY obvious line (solid black tire marks). On on run, I burst an air spring (I had removed it a week earlier to check a leak and had not re-installed it correctly). I had a spare with me and was doing a fairly easy trailside repair. I must have had 5 or 6 Jeep tour vehicle stop and ask if I needed anything during the 30 minute air spring swap. I haven't run Broken Arrow in my Liberty yet, but with skids and a lift, it will not be a problem. |

Thanks for the advise. Dave If you follow his directions and reset your odometer the directions are actually almost always within a 10th of a mile if not dead on. I didnt have a problem on either broken arrow or soldgers pass and im stock completely other than skids which did rub on the rocks a bit. If you find yourself conserned with upcoming obsticles just walk ahead and check out whats ahead and make sure you can make it. |

Not a hard trail Dave, you can do it. We ran it a couple of years ago and had no problems. Good luck |

I might suggest that you try to hit the trail before 8AM. Pink Jeeps start then and can make the trail a stop and go affair. Other than that, it's a fun trail what you will have no problems with. |
