Well...I finally had a weekend off this past weekend and I had just installed the Daystar lift and Wrangler Rubicon wheels and tires last week on my 07' KJ so I was ITCHING to get out on the trail so we decided to head out oursleves and we choose the back way to Crown King. I have been wanting to do this run since I first read about it and how much fun everyone has running it but I had to wait for the lift and tires before attempting it, good thing I waited. The first 2/3 of the trail turned out to be easier than I expected but the last 1/3 was VERY technical and demanded slow going, carefull tire placement and a little rock stacking. We had a BLAST, though it took a little longer than anticipated, the mountain views were second to none and it was great to be out in nature. The KJ performed outstandingly well and gobbled up everything we attempted. We took most of the easier bypasses; I will wait untill I do this run again with a group to attempt the tougher ones. On the way down from Crown King to the 17 I stopped to help a group of 3 Wranglers that one of them had broke down, he had fuel pump failure so we could not get it going beside the road and they hooked him up to a tow-strap and pulled him to the highway. You should have seen their faces when I told them that I must have been about 30 min behind them the whole way up the trail, they were amazed a Liberty could get through there at all, much less without a locker! I wasen't suprised... It was a good day dont attempt to take a stock height KJ up there... you need at LEAST a lift, agressive tires and stock skids. |

Not so grasshopper! Last summer we led three or four stockers up that trail. You just need a good spotter! http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=21401&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 Glad you finally got the lift, etc. See you soon! Where are your pics? Todd |

I dont doubt that you guys took some stockers through there, but that was with a group, not a stocker by itself with no spotter... |

We led a brand new Ford Explorer Truck through Box Canyon at the beginning of June. Poor guy. After a few rough spots, his nerf bars were bent up and he was unable to open the passenger door until he bent them back down. It was fun.... he got high centered on a little rock. |
