2009 4 Peaks Clean-UP in Phoenix, AZ

Well, its about that time of year again. This years Four Peaks Pickup is going to be on February 7th, 2009.Those not familiar with last years effort check out http://www.fourpeakspickup.blogspot.com
I hope we can get another nearly 300 volunteers out to clean up another 7 tons of trash!! Hopefully there won't be any burnt out FJ Cruisers this year that need to be drug out!

What I need to help out: Gloves, shovels, water, lunch, trash dumpsters, porta-jons, press and anything else you think may help! Just spreading the word on another forum you're on helps immensely!

Thanks for all of your help last year!!!

IN! Seeing as you really didn't need air cover last year, I'll have boots on the ground this year.

We may not have needed it, but it sure was cool!

You better come up to me and say hello. I want to shake the hand of the crazy pilot that took aerial photos!!! :D

I went up to the Four Peaks and Sycamore area today. (the cleanup will be in both areas)
There is plenty of trash, especially on the sycamore side.

Sadly, the forest service has fenced off almost every area that we cleaned last year. Sad, because closing off areas seems to be the only thing they can do to keep areas clean. Also, this just forces the shooters to other areas to trash. It doesn't prevent it. Nice, because the areas stay clean...

Four Peaks was looking good!

Didn't make it the previos time but definitely plan to make it this time!!! It's just sad that people could treat the land like that, you'd think there might be some sort of common sense inkling in them that would say that what they are doing is not right...

I know what you mean. Its sad that folks will act so differently when they are in a place where they are not being "watched."

Ok everyone...

We need to make this a HUGE event this year!
Last year we had 300+ people, I would like to shoot for 500 this year!

More Volunteers= Clean trails

I have been busy contacting all the Phoenix media that I can think of, but I seem to be coming up short. Does anyone have a contact with any media source?

Spread the word people and if you can donate anything, we'd appreciate it!
Donations will go towards bags and equipment. Remaining proceeds will be donated to Disabled Explorers and Karmaracer.org

Donate Here: www.sierraexpeditions.com/index.php?l=p ... tail&p=865"

We are 18 days away from this event!

Is anyone planning on attending?

Last year we saw 300+ people and made a huge difference on the trails. I would LOVE to see 400+ volunteers.

If you could, would you please RSVP here (http://www.fourpeakspickup.blogspot.com/) so we know how much food to get for everyone.
There will also be a free raffle for some off-road goodies!

I'm not sure what time I'll make it out there yet, but I'd be willing to caravan it...

I plan on camping up near Four Peaks on Friday n ight before the event starts on Saturday, anyone interested in tagging along, I'm not sure of what areas are available for camping since I have never been to the area. There will be others from the ExpeditionPortal.com board and other places planning on camping out as well so it should be like a PRe-party before the event kicks off the next morning.
