Sedona Run... 12/27/08 JJsKJ is in town visiting family for the Holidays and expressed a desire to do some trails in Sedona. He asked for an opinion of the Pink Jeep thing and Vern told him... "Don't do a tour, AZLOST will give you the grand tour free of charge". So, Sedona it is!!! We're going to try and do three short trails, depending on how late it gets. The trails are: - Broken Arrow (Wells #23) - Soldier Pass (Wells #18) - Van Deren Cabin (Wells #19) Those are the only trails Beth and I have done in Sedona. If anyone has some different trails in mind, feel free to post them up and we can drop Soldier Pass or Van Deren Cabin and do some other ones. Meet: Farabee's Jeep Rental - 3009 W. Hwy 89A (S/W side of 89A & El Camino Rd) Time: 1000 Rollout: 1030 Please gas up and get your snacks/lunch before we roll out. Don't forget the cameras!!! Note: - Each vehicle will be required to purchase a Red Rock Pass. The cost is $5.00 and can be purchased at Farabee's. - Hwy 179 has a lot of construction, so for everyone going up north on I-17, it's better to take Hwy 260 towards Cottonwood >>> Hwy 89A into Sedona. - For those without a CB, we'll be using FRS radios on channel 4/1. We'll see everyone in Sedona!!! Attendees: JJsKJ + 3 JJs Dad + 1 JJs Sister + 5 Corwyywn oldhockeyvb AZKJ +1 phxtoad doug +2 Silverdiesel +2 Anyone else up for this one??? |

x2 Vern. This LOST group has been a fine bunch of folks to run with. Beth and I have enjoyed every run we've been on and you couldn't ask to be with better people, on or off the trail. AND, the chili's great too!!! Anyone going to caravan up from Phoenix? If so, where are you meeting and what time? |

Yes, solo for now. Might do two out of three trails depending on timing. I'm going to be driving back to Phx that PM. I volunteer to run tail if needed. Todd |

Just a note... rain is forcasted on and off for most of this week. I just called the ranger station in Sedona to find out about trail conditions. So far everything is open. If they get a lot of rain this week, some of the trails could be closed. I'll keep in touch with them and post up whatever I find out.... phxtoad wrote: I volunteer to run tail if needed.
Todd That's good by me, and if someone wants to take lead, that's cool too. |

![]() I am really jazzed to see folks coming out for this run! Man I wish I could get this kind of turnout in Cali. Good thing you feel that way, they're calling for rain tomorrow thru Christmas night and a 50% chance of snow Friday. Forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny with a high in the low-mid 40s. Good thing I pulled my watch cap out of the closet last week ![]() |

Doug, Here is another thread w/ info and pics. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=37790 I have not heard anyone say that Sedona is any less than Spectacular. Imagine what it will look like if we get a little snow on the red rock! So are you coming out for the run? Sure would be cool to see you there! Kevin, Unless we can't get to Sedona due to blocked, closed roads, etc. I will not let the weather stop me from seeing the area. I let the weather screw me once a while back, I won't do it again. As long as I can get to the area, I Will see Sedona! I hope everyone will brave it w/ me and share this trip. I have good feelings about this one! How can I go wrong? If my folks and sister and her family make it, It will be extremely memorable. Just what I need and the best holiday gift I could get! |

Oh no worries JJ, I just wanted to let you know what the most recent forecast is for the area. Personally I've wanted to do a 'snow run' up in Sedona ever since I saw some pics of a run that the AZ club did back in '03 or '04 (the pics were on the old ez-board site). I can just imagine what it will look like if there is snow on the rocks - beautiful! |

Kevin and I are meeting at teh McD's here at : Quote: If you are going to take I-17 up there is a McD's on Hwy 74 just east of the freeway, probably as good a place as any to meet. Here's a link to a google map of it.
Meet there at say 0730? Guessing that should put us up at rental place around 0930-ish. Channel 25 on the CB. |

This weekend will be fabulous! The weather won't stop us. Last year when doing pre-runs for fits it rained like 3-4 inches overnight. We were up wheeling the next morning. It was beautiful Red Mud!!! |
