| Post subject: | AZ LOST Monthly Run... Jun 13 '09 (Sheep Bridge) |
The AZ LOST JEEPS July run is scheduled for 6-13-2009. As usual, all makes of Jeeps are welcome as are other capable 4x4's. We'll run Camp Creek Road to Sheep Bridge, on the Verde River, and have lunch there. Bring your bathing suits, the water will be refreshing!! We can return home the same way we came in, or take Bloody Basin Road (Massey C-30) out to I-17, north of Black Canyon City. If folks want, we can stop at the Rock Springs Cafe (<---- check out the menu) in Black Canyon City for dinner... great food and plenty of it!! Be warned!! This is an "all day" trip, but well worth it. The river is spectacular, and it will offer some relief from the June heat. Even if you don't swim, you can cool your feet in the water. For the daring folks... we can attempt a river crossing depending how high the water is. So, don't be bashful... pack a lunch, bring your camera and let's enjoy the area north of Cave Creek by the Verde River. It's an AZ LOST JEEPS thing... other folks wouldn't understand!! When: 6-13-09 Trail: Camp Creek Road (Massey C-27) to Sheep Bridge and maybe Bloody Basin Road (Massey C-30) - both trails are rated easy, but bumpy and a little rocky. Meet: Circle K (20745 N. Scottsdale Rd in Scottsdale - the Basha's parking lot one mile north of the 101) Time: 0830 Roll out: 0900 sharp Length: 8~9 hours (depending on how long we stay at the river) Who's going?? AZKJ +1 Silverdiesel +3 Pablo Neatus +4 Here are some teaser pics I took today on a run with another group (54 members and "!8" showed up): A little bumpy and rocky...
An optional steep hill climb and the view from the top...
Bring the puppies, they like cool water too...
Water crossings for the dare devils...
I saw four people try it today, three had to take a strap...
Sheep Bridge...
We'll have lunch down by the river (on the left bank)...
Note: Be sure to bring plenty of water, your camera and towels!! |

It's bumpy, and dusty, and a little rocky, but the river will be nice and cool. And, for those who want a good dinner, Rock Springs Cafe is a super place to fill up, and kick back after a long day on the trail. Added you to the list. |

Roland Yeah Roland, It wasn't all that tough except that last 75 feet or so getting down to the river. I imagine it too can get a little crowed. It wasn't as bad as what we saw at Fossil Creek yesterday when i ran it in April with the EV 4x4 group. |

Well anyway the way I see it is: April 2009, Gas was $1.65/gal, cigs were $5/pack, and there were more people employed-- Now, Gas is $2.55/gal cigs are $8/pack and 750K more people unemployed-- So maybe there will be less people now- - - Heck if the price of wifebeater undershirts goes up, that will deter crowds!!! BTW In April I paid $2 gallon for D2 diesel- yesterday I filled at $2.11/ Gallon !! Roland |
