There is an AZ LOST JEEPS run scheduled on the yearly calendar for Sunday, February 21st. Does anybody have any ideas or a specific trail they'd like to run??

Let's don't forget about the trails on the west side of the Valley and in the Tucson area. Those guys are always meeting us here, mostly in the East Valley. We need to reciprocate and check out some trails nearer to them, even if it means getting up earlier and driving out their way for a change. I'm sure they would appreciate it.

Here are a few ideas just to get the ball rolling, but please chime in with your suggestions (don't worry if you haven't run the trail you'd like to do... someone here has most likely ran it, and will lead if you need a trip leader).

West Valley suggestions:

- Harquahala Peak... Wells #40 (M)
- Wickenburg Mountains... Wells #36 (M)
- Box Canyon of the Hassayampa... Massey C-21 (4) / Stanton Ghost Town... Massey C-22 (2)

Tucson Area suggestions:

- Rice Peak... Wells #68 (D)
- Chimney Rock... Wells #70 (D)
- Copper Creek... Massey S-29 (2) / Sibley Mansion... Massey C-30 (7)

Note:

- all trails above are doable in a stock height Liberty, but good A/T tires, skids and tow hooks are recommended for the more difficult trails.
- Massey rates their trails on a scale of 1~10 where Wells uses easy, medium and difficult.

And don't forget... FITS V 2010 is coming up March 19~21. The camp site and trails TBA by the club officers in early February, so start making plans to attend now!! Did I mention the great food on Saturday evening after the run??? Mmmmm good, you won't go hungry!! If you have children... bring 'em too, this is a family friendly event, everyone is invited!! Camping, trail riding and food at it's best....

I'd love to get out the Table Mesa area. Never been...

Hmmm... that area will be new for me too. From what I read on other sites, there are a lot of trails of variable difficulties out that way. The only one I ever ran is the Table Mesa Trail, Massey C29 (5) which is also New River Canyon, Wells #39 (M). Wells said it's suitable for aggressive stock SUVs with high ground clearance.

Does anyone know the area? If not, it sounds like pre-run time to me!!

Edit: Anybody up for a pre-run?? I just finished plotting two trails for my GPS... New River Canyon Trail and Big Maggie May Trail. Both are rated medium. There also looks to be some side trails to explore if we have time.

I have been out this way on my dirt bike. I don't know that I have ever taken the same trail twice as I would ride to here from my house in Peoria. Some of the stuff is pretty knarly out this way. Could be fun.....this is an area you can just go in many different directions to find fun.

A pre-run to scout Table Mesa for the Feb run, or just a good old fashioned run to anywhere? With the exception of TM... I've run all the other trails mentioned in this thread and no pre-run is really needed.

Note: I can make it any day of the week. Silverdiesel usually makes all the runs, so if we can schedule for Fridays, or preferably Sundays, he'd most likely sign on....

I ran Raw Deal up in Table Mesa on Saturday. It is a short trail, but a lot of fun and pretty hard. Wouldn't want to take a stock KJ through there. That was the first time I was up there. I know there are a lot of extreme / hard core trails up that way, from what I understand there isn't to many easy / moderate trails though. It was a really cool area nonetheless.

Very Cool Tim 8) I just saw some pics posted up on the VJC "wheelin 101"......that would have been great to attend.
So with some good spotting the KJ made it through with no carnage ?

Pretty much, I banged up my rear bumper and license plate on the very first obstacle, there is a bypass for it though. Other than that, no problems really (glad I had real sliders though).

Either one of these looks fine to me if you want to make a run in Feb.

^^^^^ Thanks for the input Rex.

You're talking about Wells #39, New River Canyon at the Table Mesa exit off I-17, right? Any chance of doing it on the 15th, or do you work that day? I can do either, just thinking of the people that can't do it on a Monday that don't have that holiday off.

If you want to post a run, go for it. I'll be there whatever day you pick.

OT: did you get your radio installed yet??

When would you want to run it?? Don't know about the others, but I'd meet ya down there. Just a FYI... it's not much of a trail unless you run the entire loop (which I've never done). We did it going in the back way to the play area.

Yeah, I meant Sunday. Beth can't do it on Monday (she attends 99.8% of our runs). I can do either day. If you want, post a run for whatever day you'd like, I'll be there....

This topic has been pretty silent... :ALONE:

I guess no one is really interested in going anywhere.

AJ - I think I am going to go and try to check out the back end of that bulldog canyon trail on Monday 2/15 if you want to go. I want to go in at the Apache Junction entrance off of Idaho Rd, and then the trail goes further East according to the maps I got from the ranger station. I think it exits again at cottonwood? Anyway, if anyone wants to go check it out with me, I will be checking it out on 2/15, Monday, President's Day, 10am. If anyone wants to go, we will meet up at the gas station at the NE corner of Idaho Rd and US60. Post up and let me know - otherwise we will just head out at 10am. :JEEPIN:

Yeah, it gets that way here at times with not many people interested in doing a run.

I'm not familiar with the area you want to explore, but count me in. You may get better exposure for your run if you make a new post announcing it.
