If there are any AZ guys looking to mount a cb antenna on their KJ, you can check out this thread:

Now I just have to wait for the actual radio to get here on Monday!

Anytime. Do you have an SWR meter to test and tune it?

I sure don't. You will have to show me how to do it. Hoping to get it up and running by FITS.

Sorry, I don't have one either.

I usually take it to a CB shop, or stop by a truck stop and have them tune it. It's not hard to do, you just need the meter and adjust the top of a tunable antenna, or trim some coil off a non-tunable one until the SWR's are below 1.5. or less. I'm pretty sure one of the guys here may have one if you want to wait to have them help you. Me, I've always just been impatient and had it done. One other tip... do not shorten the coax cable. Most places recommend having 16' even if it's more than you need to go from the antenna to the radio. It has something with the tuning too.

Some people never adjust their antenna and wonder why they get crappy reception. If the SWR's are way off scale, you can also end up damaging your radio.

Some more CB info since now there is a suggestion to have one for FITS V. I know everyone is watching expenses during these tough times but I want to list what I paid / how I installed my present CB so if anyone without one may consider this path. I always brag about how "cheap" I can be so:

CB/antenna/coaxial cable, purchase from Flying J Truck stop, $120
Crossbar atop roof rails, purchase fro Home Depot, $8.00
Velcro, Walmart, $3.00

Removable CB unit Velcro-ed on right side between floor console and shotgun seat. Lighter adapter for power. The crossbar also serves as front bar on a Rola Rack installed on the roof so I really do not need to include total cost. Ham radio hobbiest Renstock got one of these bars installed for several antennas he uses on his KJ. The only real requirement on the CB radio was quality for a good price plus the feature of a front facing speaker since this unit is wedged between two objects. model Cobra 18WSXTII Only Mod now is to get a stronger antenna spring as the 20" stick I use gets real wobbly (using a tennis ball and Zipties for control).
That Link is an excellent way to mount an antenna - I however through the years have always placed the base plane, bottom of antenna above driver's head and top of truck can act as base plane enhancement giving stronger signal.

I have a Radio Shack SWR meter now. PM me if you need a tune. I'll try and remember to bring it to FITS.
