The rear boot on the KJ's front shaft decided to disappear on me. Does anybody know of a good source to get a replacement anywhere in Phoenix?? The dealer wants $560.00 and Mopar Parts online wants $370.00.

Thanks,
AJ

Edit

Opinion please.... Has anyone used Precision Drivelines at 32nd and Osborn? He's telling me he can give a new shaft with U-joints (no boots required) for right at $400.00 balanced and installed. I'm thinking that would be a better way to go than replacing it with the OEM shaft with boots that will only tear again later on down the road.

AJ, that may be a good option but it may give just a light vibration that I don't think Beth would think is acceptable (not saying it will but it is possible). I just gave mine away to another Jeeper or I would let you have it. I know you are not one ofr salvaged parts but there are a few places in town that have new KJs at their yards. You probably could get one for $150 bucks off a low milage KJ. If you do go the U joint route I would tell the guy doing it taht if it vibrates you will want your money back. I do think the u joint version is better just for simplicity sake. Mine is U joint in the front now and if it ever goes bad again I can just replace the joints.

Ernie... yeah thanks for the heads up. I was aware about the vibration and the guy at Precision is going to build one with u-joints and balance it. Hope that will take care of it. I'll let him know if there's any vibration, he can have it back. I also talked to Will at Sierra Expeditions. Wendy has a thread on the other forum that Kevin pointed me to. She trashed one last October and is going to have the same thing done.

Mines not making any noise yet, must of just lost the boot. Roland is getting the weird noise and needs one too. In fact he called me this past weekend and wanted to take a peek at mine to see exactly what it looked like. That's when we discovered my boot was gone too.

Thanks Vern!! Their website is under constuction, I'll call them tomorrow to get a price. I'm also going to go see Precision Driveline here in Phoenix and talk to them about their policy on vibration.

Also call Phoenix Rack and Axle. Tell them Randy with the blue Liberty sent you. Ask for "driveline Steve".

4wheeler's installed my U-joint one a couple years back. I'm assuming they had Phoenix Rack fab it up.

It does have a vibe at highway speeds though. I'm used to it, but it is louder.

I imagine it does a bit but my whole Jeep is louder after the SFA with bigger tires but only after I get close to 70mph. I think it is fine.

Yeah they did. I'll try and dig up the receipt - I don't remember off hand.

I'm off tomorrow (Wednesday) if you want to go for a test ride.

Cost was good for a new shaft. It's a double cardan u-joint set up. I'm having vibration problems at 70ish but I can't figure out where it's coming from. I'm reluctant to take the ds out because it's so hard to get in there. The bolts are really hard to access.

I had to remove my front driveshaft in Sedona last summer and went to AZ Driveline in Phoenix (http://www.arizonadrivelines.com/) I-17 and Buckeye

The owner is a Virtural Jeep member and hooked me up with a new COMPLETE front and back driveshafts for the KJ for $400 installed.
Awesome customer service and warranty!! :BINGO:
