So, as some of you that were at FITS may recall the wind Friday night/Saturday morning was a bit, shall we say STRONG!! Well the ARB 2500 series awning that was on my roof I had out and tied up according to the instructions and was out do to the threat of rain (lightning seen earlier in the evening led to this belief). So the awning was out and was holding up great throughout the night and then about 4am crash bang boom! A sever gust of wind came up and ripped the stakes out of the ground and smashed the awning supports into the Jeep. No damage to the Jeep but the raer horizontal support rod was bent and jammed into the larger of the 2 rods and the plastic hinge that connects to the main beam broke allowing the support rod to flail around and hit me in the head through my tent waking me to the disaster. So at 4am i roll the whle thing up and pray that in the next 2.5 hours it won't rain, and thankfully it didn't. So first thing Monday I send an e-mail to ARB Tech support and Warranty support inquiring if there is anything they can do since I know I've had the awning for right at a year. As of last night I still hadn't heard anything but I also found my paperwork on the awning and I have had the awning for just over a year, 1yr 1month exactly, DOH!! So I send them a follow-up e-mail letting them know about the first and also letting them know that I found the paperwork and that it is actually a month out of warranty. I get almost an immediate response from Marc Bowers and he asks for some photos of the damage which I run out of the office and snap some pics and send to him and the next thing I know he asks for my address and will be sending me new parts...SWEET!!!! |
