Hey, guys. I'm the proud new owner of an 02 Limited 4x4, and I figured I would check you guys out and see what's going on.

Unfortunately, someone hit me in the parking lot like, the fourth day I had the Libby! The damage was pretty much limited to the bumper cover, and a tiny ding on the front edge of the hood, but nothing major. All this means is I'm gettin' an ARB!

With that being said, my first two purchases, I think, are gonna be an ARB bumper and a Frankenlift. Good idea? Bad idea?

To qualify myself, I have a minor amount of technical inclination. I installed a drop kit on a friend's Lancer Evolution with no problems after borrowing a compressor. I assume raising a vehicle is a lot different than lowering it though. That being said, how tough is it to install a Frankenlift? An ARB bumper?

Also, what's the deal on the lower ball joint problem? I can't find a whole lot about it on here (I'm not very good at working the search feature...seems to retrieve far too many off-topic results) but it sounds like it's really bad and I might die if I don't get this checked out. Should I go with the MOOG ones, and if so, again, how tough is it to install these?

Look forward to wheeling with you guys!

Vince

Welcome!
The AZ group rocks, so you are in good company. (Join their club, well worth the $)

Purchase the Frankenlift preassembled and it will go together easier. I am sure you could find some help from the Az. folks.

There are some threads on the 4x4 section on how to check your BJ's. I would go with some Moogs while you have the front end apart for your lift. The Peace of mind would be worth it and they should last a long time since you can service them.

Look into the new Rock Lizard bumpers before settling on the ARB. While the ARB is a good bumper, the new RL's are going to be sweet and have been designed around a lot of L.O.S.T. input. RL is also running a promo now for his bumpers and rock sliders.

I live in Phoenix. I might just take you up on that club meeting offer.

I saw that Rock Lizard bumper and while it looks cool, I want to be able to keep my stock fogs. Oh well.

I'd go with the Rocklizzard and relocate the foglights- you can use the same wires, but install better quality foglights! My original fog lights were nice, but the temporary Hella's work so much better.

Pre-assembed Frankenlift can be installed pretty easily. Plenty of us around to help out. Or you might just wait for one of the big All-J lift parties to get it done and use it as an excuse to visit the shopt.

Lift first choice, si'
Bumper wouldn't be my second choice unless money is no problem.
More important IMO is boulder bars and skids. You need them for the rocks we have in AZ.
Bigger and tougher tires also round out the top choices, again for our rocks.
Welcome, look forward to meeting you on the trail!
