Would anyone be interested in going out two weeks from now in southern AZ? For example the Canelo Hills trail? And then maybe down Parker Canyon Lake Road to the border road, and then up to Sierra Vista? My goals would be (1) to go on the Canelo Hills trail and (2) check out Parker Canyon Lake for my sailboat.

But it wouldn't have to be Canelo Hills. I want to check out the Hands Pass trail sometime.

I / we have some time now. But I have to spend some time working on my boat. I did some interior painting today and have to do more next weekend. Plus I have some Jeep projects. Have some Boulder Bars that need to be installed, plus a fuel storage project.

Just thought I would throw this out there.

i been out that way! Hands pass is a really nice trail, not too much traffic, but it is a drive last time i went i had to stay the night in wilcox before the trail and after as it is quite alot of driving to do all in one day. i will keep my eye on this one as i go down that way more frequently now, and usually stay the night in sierra vista so that might just work for me.

OK, well let's all try to put together a Hands Pass trip sometime soon. I want to put on my rock rails before attempting that. (Won't do much good in the box on the garage floor.)

Wish I could make this trip, I'm booked through February though. I have never been down in the Canelo hills area. I have done Hands Pass many years ago. We camped near Paradise for the weekend and ran Hands Pass aka Whitetail Canyon on Saturday. Nice little trail, wasn't anything too difficult just a bumpy ride up the wash. Pretty scenery once you got up on the mountain. That may be different now though. Those trails up the wash can change drastically after just one storm. It was a very scratchy trail, very overgrown and not a lot of traffic to keep it worn back. I've got a few ideas working for trail runs this spring. I'll post up when I have more information. Have a great time and be safe!

Did this trip happen I would be interested in a future run out to this way. I have just been in the middle of getting "settled".

No, it didn't happen. It's too late to organize something for tomorrow. My wife and I are going to go out hiking instead.

We're still interested in checking out the Canelo Hills trail. It can happen some other weekend that works out for others like you. Some other weekend in February or March?

Ernie

I love Hand's Pass trail!!!! Check out the cool tunnel up here that used to run one side of a town through the mountain to the other side. The name escapes me right now though. Vern and Rob have some good knowledge of the trails in the area and south of there.

As far as sail boat on Parker, unless it a john boat with a bed sheet for a sail, don't get your hope up too much. It's pretty much a canoe and kayak type lake. There are serious restrictions on motorized boats too.

later, mike
