Howdy from the n00by. I just thought I'd ask if there's any special AZ runs for the 100th BD for AZ. I mean, it'll be fun to see some of the 'townie' wvents, but I thought I'd ask if there was anything else planned for us who don't consider ourselves "city folk".

Oh yeah, I guess I'm asking a bit early, but what the heck!

Welcome! That would be a great reason for a run. Wish I could make ANY run at this point though. My weekends are filled with diaper changing for a little while longer.

That is an outstanding suggestion! What trails would be fitting for the 100th birthday of AZ?

Well, that's a good one. Maybe the old George Crook Trail from Show Low to ??? (where the heck does that one come out exactly?) Then there's Pleasant Valley and all the side roads out of Young. Then again just climbing Green's peak can be fun in the winter.

Of course, there's always the ones I always see on youtube (Sedona, etc.), but I've always been sort of a loner and found my own trails more towards the high country. That time of year in the high country it'll be anyone's guess as to how deep that puddle is that you're about to cross . . . lol.

That sounds like a good idea for a summertime run. Another thought is to make it an entire year long event and try to do as much of the az trail as we can. That way we will have some seasonal options

Summer time? Wussy!

Just kidding. Yes, I lived up on the mountain for several years and I can't think of any of those years where FR300 would be passable in February. I guess it's the thought that counts, lol.

So, even though I wouldn't be able to make a whole year out of it (not at this time, maybe by then) what do you suggest?

The Arizona Trail. It's my understanding it runs the length of the state so we could do different parts at different times and see how much of it we could complete in a year

Well, nothing like digging up an old thread, but hey; this one's mine.

Looks like I won't make it to AZ from WA in February next year, but hopefully in May for what it's worth. I am hoping to visit some of my old haunts up on the mountain (I've got quite a few 'secret' places) and then maybe head down to Tombstone, back up to Winslow and/or Cornville with perhaps a stop in Safford somewhere along the way; I've got a few friends that would like me to visit/I would like to visit. I'm not trying to start a run, just updating my plans. With my rig I usually don't do the hard-core wheelin' seen here, I'm more a backroads dude with a bit of wheelin' here and there.

:dead:
