Great pics. Someday I will run that trail. I had all the permits to go a couple of years ago and had to cancel. So I guess it is safe to go being that close to the border?

I am curious too. I am over in Vegas and that looks like a lot of fun.

Runs from Ajo, AZ (South of Gila Bend and I-8) to the Wellton/Yuma, AZ area. It runs right along the border fence which was seen in some of his photos, even stradling two countries!!! (Actually that fence might be 30ft from the border I think, it's just a warning wall I believe??????????????)

I was supposed to do it this weekend but they closed the trail this Tuesday for local wildlife season to let these special (goats I think, can't remember now) thrive and not be interfered with by human contact. They open it up again in the middle of the summer i think???

Scott:
We never actually went into the cabeza prieta. We explored around the mountains west of there, south of Tacna and Wellton. There is lot's of wheeling and camping to be done in that area without going on the cabeza

Safeish...there are a few trails throughout that run people and drugs. 80 percent chance of everything going fine, 10 percent it could get hairy, 10 that it goes batsh** crazy. If you go be careful.

Very cool, thanks for posting the pics, Vern!

I would have liked to have gone, but things have been busy. A fair bit of weekend time has gone towards getting my ham radio up and running. Part of the motivation for that project was for safety on big trips like the one you just went on.

Anyway, glad to hear you had fun and had no issues.

Ernie
