Save the date, let's hook up in Parker, AZ the weekend of June 2, 2012 for some 4x4 fun, camping along the colorado river, and exploring some new country. The Parker four wheelers have agreed to show us around a little. The first weekend in June shouldn't be too hot, after that it will be impossible until the fall. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. Planning to camp along the river at the La Paz County Park for the weekend. There are also hotels in Parker for those that don't want to camp. Stay tuned for more details.

We're saving the date and plan to attend. I think we'll camp but it's good to know hotels are an option.

Here's what we're going to try to do based on Vern's info: Drive up Thursday after work and get as close to Parker as we can, spending that night in a hotel. That would leave Friday and Saturday for messing around. We'd return to Tucson on Sunday.

There is some work event that weekend, but this sounds like way more fun. :) I'm planning on going +1. It will be nice to see everyone again.

Ness and I are planning on coming. Vern, are you bringing your trailer or the jet ski? How close is your camp to the trail?

Still looks good that we will be there. Had a few front end problems pop up but everything appears to be under control.

Parker Experience Information:
One of the Parker 4-Wheelers members has agreed to lead a trail for us early Saturday morning 6/2/12 beginning at 0600. The trail will take approximately 3 hours so we can be off the trail before the worst of the heat. You will need to be in Parker, gassed up and at the meeting spot ready to go by 0530. I’m sure we can arrange a trail with whatever rating we want. I have told them stock friendly to moderate. We can discuss and decide the morning of. The weather forecast for next Friday and Saturday is 110/76, 107/75 so it will be hot. I’m planning to arrive at La Paz County Park Friday morning around noon. I will try to find a camping spot along the beach area. I understand the campground fills up quickly with all the boaters. Hopefully the weekend after the holiday it will not be too bad. The campground is first come first serve, no reservations. With the hot temperatures some of you may want to make reservations at one of the local motels in lieu of camping. I have been told the Bluewater Casino is nice and cheap. I am bringing my jet ski and plan to spend my time in the water to keep cool.
Please RSVP so I have a good headcount for the event. I will confirm a meeting location once I know what our headcount is and have spoken with the local trail leader. Please call me with any questions. I can be reached at five two zero four one nine four seven seven two. I look forward to seeing everyone. It has been a long time since I have been on the trail.
If there is interest maybe we can arrange a night run out to one of the ghost towns also.

OK, we'll be there for Saturday morning. Because of the heat we're going to stay in a hotel. We made a reservation at the Best Western for Friday night. We'll go out with you all on Saturday, and then drive back to Tucson Saturday evening.

It'll be hot, but we're looking forward to it!

Hmm, I forgot you mentioned a night run to a ghost town. Could that be Friday night?

[edit] Mentioned this to the boss. She likes the idea, but thinks it might be too much for us to drive across the state, check into a hotel, go for a night run, and then get up at 05:30 the next morning.

I am in! :JEEPIN:

I will be flying solo in the new KK. She's still completely stock though. Haven't decided if I will just leave super early and drive up Saturday morning since I only live 2.5 hours away or tough out the camping. Unfortunately I overspent a little on a recent trip to Vegas for the girlfriend's birthday so I don't really want to spend the funds on a hotel room for myself right now. It also gives me less to worry about with my dog and all. He won't be coming along on this one because he overheats too quickly in this heat.

Look forward to seeing everyone. :SOMBRERO:

I checked with Bluewater and the rooms are kinda Pricey - got a room just up from La Paz park on 95 for cheaper- in Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning... So I can be avail for anything the whole weekend. So I will hang with La Paz campers with my own chairs and shade.... Diesel jeep is still not ready but I am working on it and will be ready this weekend. Alternator decoupler went out and cause its diesel, parts are special order and I am trying to chase a small leak on the transfer case...but we will see everyone there... looking forward to this!!

FYI
I thought better of it and decided to book the motel 6 for friday and saturday night. Not worth risking it tent camping when it is 110. Can't wait to see everyone!

Got it.

OK. I'd better go pull my handset right now.

Jeep is currently in shop, had a bit of a parts hiccup. Should be ready to leave by mid-Friday.

Just a heads up, cell phone time is inaccurate in this area, depending on what tower your phone syncs up to, you may either get AZ time or California time (made me an hour late to work once)

see yall there
