Are you bored, not going to Moab, and in the Phoenix area?

Well then I have something that will keep you busy and may even be enjoyable this Friday & Saturday.

As some of you know, I used to work in law enforcement. Every year there is a motorcycle officer competition and this year it is being held here in Phoenix at the Phoenix Municipal Stadium. It is 4/21 through 4/22 and starts off pretty early in the AM *like 8’ish or so* and goes all day. It is a really awesome competition involving different bikes like Kawasaki’s, Harley’s, Honda’s *new bike, may not be competing*, and BMW’s as well as department’s from across the country. It is open and free to the public.

OK, the sign in that first pic had me a bit scared (John Tesh = scary). I may see if I can make it out that way Saturday (if I don't have to work). I'd love to see the BMW R11RTP go thru the paces.

HAHAHA!! I had the exact same thought: If I'm ever so bored that I consider going to a John Tesh concert someone please put a bullet in me!!

I've got a buddy who's heavy into MotoGP and the likes...maybe we'll cruise that way.

Yeah, bring him on out. If he rides then tell him to bring the bike. Last year they had a miniature course set up that people could take their own bikes on. They might have the same thing this year.

Just FYI for everyone. Saturday will be the actual competition. Friday is a practice day.

If you go, you'll see an office building on the corner of 56th St. and Van Buren. That's where I work. Last year we watched as all the local law enforcement agencies evaluated different manufacturers police bikes in Phx Muni's large open parking lot. I know Phoenix and DPS started buying the BMW's. It's amazing how long the old Kawasaki's have served virtually unchanged - aprox. 30 years or so.

IMO the Kawasaki's are still the best police bikes out today. The BMW's and Kawi's both have great abilities. The Kawi's are more maneuverable and the BMW's have the edge with ABS and a shaft drive. You can scrape a Kawi's footboards and still ride around. The BMW doesn't have footboards. Still a great bike though and I'd ride one in a heart beat.
