Created a google map so that we can see where we are all at in relation to others. At least for me, it makes it easier to see who is close to where I am, trails I want to hit, and planning for future events. Etc, etc, etc...

It is an open map, so anyone can add themselves.
1.) On the left side about middle of the page click EDIT.
2.) Zoom in to your location and click the BLUE PUSH PIN place in near where you live.
3.) Add your USER ID to the name block. location, and preferably an email addy or other contact info so that you can be reached by other means than this forum, if someone want to.
4.) On the left where EDIT was click SAVE and then DONE

Any issues PM me.

Now you are missing and there is still no edit button. This may be going backwards. Great idea though, now I know where Oak Harbour is

Now you are back, but no edit button, any chance the URL changes whenever you make changes?

The edit may work for you because you made and contol the map, we may not have editing permission.

No, don't think that is the problem. I have checked in the preferences allow anyone to edit. I created an account called lostpnw@gmail.com ccreated the map. signed out and into my normal gmail one, and I could modify from that one also... maybe you just have to be signed into google???

I am signed into Google / Gmail. The strange thing is that when I am signed into Google, your map pin does not show up. I have to go to the main map page and go to the PNW map from there. Then you show up regardless of whether I am signed in or not. There is going to be a simple explanation for this, somewhere...

OK, found the answer in the Google Maps help section...

Users of Google Maps can make community edits in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.

Apparently Canadians are not allowed to put pins in our own country.

Great idea though. Maybe Mapquest has something we can use, lets check the help section first.

I have no idea who thought this one up. Maybe we should let the Aussie group know what we found out, at least they could use this.

No worries we all have those moments. Should we look into doing something with this, or keep looking? I am not sure if this one goes down to streets. I only put in my city for the LOST map.

I think that one would be fine personally. City is fine for location, you can still see who is near you/where you are going. Yet there is still some privacy. Actually addresses or phone # can be traded via PM.
