Anybody want to check out Tatum Lead and/or Rocky Flats on Saturday?

Promises to be plenty muddy.

I have never done either and figured I better do it now before we end up paying $4/gal for gas this summer.

Anybody done these have anything to say about them?

Speak for yourself... I'm already paying that.... :) Where are those trails? My wife is due in 2 weeks and we need some "shake the baby out" locations that are not TOO difficult such as to strand a couple while one of them is in labor. I have decent tires currently, but no lift and only a front skid plate.

Yeah, but you aren't getting 15MPG are you?

Tatum Lead OHV:

Rocky Flats OHV:

I did some more checking around online this afternoon and found that most folks thought that Tatum Lead was a glorified Forest Service (FS) dirt road and that the listing online for Rocky Flats may be wrong -- apparently it is posted for ATV use not 4x4.

If this is true, this would mean that Beasley Knob and Tatum Lead are the only USFS 4x4 OHV allowed areas left in Georgia. Apparently a few years ago (as late as 2005) you were still able to run the Rich Mountain ORV and Amicalola/Anderson Creek ORV areas but these have been closed. ::sigh::

The motor vehicle use maps for all the other GA FS Roads can be found here:

Yes, I have been busy all winter trying to locate resources as close as possible to me to ride.
:D
