Steps (non-technical-like):
1) come up with someplace and sometime that you think folks would like going. Include details like logistics, costs, links.
2) post it here and start a discussion to gauge interest/participation (i.e. if it's a great idea that no-one can attend, it's not really a great idea).
3) once you have a consensus on someplace that people can/will actually attend, ask people to confirm if they're going. If there's costs/forms associated with the location, make sure they understand that.
4) provide a final attendees list, and some logistics (i.e. We'll meet everyone at phil's convenience store at the intersection of X and Y between 9 and 9:30 AM. Call me at xxx-xxxx if you have any issues, etc).
5) Have fun.

Dan

P.S. if you're going to include a picture of your jeep in your profile, I'd recommend it be your avatar (obviously smaller), not in your sig. Signatures are typically reserved for text/tiny graphics only. I think there are some board guidelines about it, but I'm lazy and don't feel like finding them at the moment. If every single post has a giant picture of your jeep, some folks will start to get pissy, and I don't want you to get flamed by someone in one of the more active forums when you're brand new :)

Hey,

I have gotten out to a couple of places with the local Jeep club here. Just spent the Feb 20-21 at River Rock, it was a lot of fun. I have to admit there was a lot I could not do in the libby, but there was still a ton of stuff to play on. I am posting some pics of the libby and other jeeps that were out there to include a couple of really well built XJs.

Now a couple shots of the infamous "Pink Jeep" as Mr. JHBlackwell has dubbed it. Pink Jeep is owned by a gutsy chick that is well respected by all of us that were out on the trails that day

Here are a couple of really nice XJs

And another TJ that was with us

All in all is (it, not is....some things spell check just won't see) was a blast. Admission was 50 bucks/ driver for Friday through Sunday, or 35 for a week day. My next thought is Beasly Knob for an over nighter, but I would put that off till May. Other ideas I have had are the network of Forest Service roads that run through Northern GA into Kentucky and Tennessee.

Hope you enjoy the pics, and I hope this gives you all a look at what we have around here.

Cheers,

Groo2

Nice shots. It looks like a lot of fun. Keep us informed if you hear about any day trips up in the forest service roads. I'd love to have a short trip with my son (and be able to take him home when it's over).

P.S. square lights == YJ :)

I wouldn't mind joining in on a ride. Myself, I don't care too much for off road parks. After a while you just repeat yourself. If you come up with some trails in the hills I would be interested.

Terry,

I don't blame you for not digging off road parks, expensive and a lot of stuff is designed for buggies, but I will take what I can get. Being in the East/Southeast is weird, I am not used to everything being privately owned. Back home there are miles of BLM land to explore. My Thoughts are really on Beasely Knob, it is a State Park in GA hill, and is not too costly from what I have read.

Here area couple of youtube vids for some places in north GA that are not privately owned.

Nimblewill Gap Road, just East of Amicalola Falls State Park. It is in Dawsonville, GA

And Beasely Knob

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdSQ6TCw ... re=related

Dan you are right square lights are a YJ (Yuppy Jeep as I remember them being called back in the day, I won't make that mistake again).

Cheers,

Groo2

I'd be up for an day-trip Amicalola run. Can't beat the falls for a pretty spot for lunch or a meet-up point. Terry, that might be a bit of a drive for you for less than a weekend

YO! ANDREW! Man it's good to hear from you. The pictures are AWESOME!!
I hope you didn't post this run before ya'll went...'cause if you did then I'd have to be mad at ME..not you. :furious: :goink:
Tell all your fellow Rangers and Rangerettes hello for me and...LET ME KNOW THE NEXT TIME YOU RIDE!@!#! :pepper:
By the way. It was my daughter, Summer, that tagged the 'Pink Jeep' when we went muddin' at Durhamtown Plantation. We didn't know (or couldn't remember) the young ladies name and kept refering to her pink stickers...hence 'Pink Jeep". And you're right...the Pink Jeep could teach some of us 'macho' men what wheelin' is about....what a woman.
Keep in touch and let the Georgia crowd know when you head out again....maybe we can join ya'll. :JEEPIN:

Some thoughts on doing a FS road run ending at Beasley Knob, if we spent a day wheeling at Beasley Knob this could be a two day trip. Does anyone know this area? I was wondering if it the roads listed here are public use. The route could be run backwards, starting at Beasley and ending up at Amicalla (spelling?) falls. Anyhow just thoughts.
Thanks for any input.

I haven't been to Beasley Knob, but everyone I talk to that has says when wet it's like Durhamtown....nothing but mud. Personally, I'm not a big fan of mud...but if it's dry it's supposed to be very challenging...and not for amateurs. I hope to have my winch installed in the next couple of weeks and will feel more confident about wheeling a new site. I'll continue to check with folks and let you know.

Beasley Knob is definitely northern GA. I will look around for some place more central or southern, I am open to suggestion. I am looking for something that would be fun, but won't scare the life out my kids.

We did a run last June down on the Flint River near Albany, GA that Terry and some of the FL folks joined us on.

I don't Know anything about Flint River or the Albany area. Anyone that was there last time willing to chime in/take lead. What time frame (I am thinking late July, but is just me)? Call it a test run for new gear before ECS 2010?
