Why do ppl call 2wd 2x4s! They are 4x2s! A 2x4 is a piece of wood ppl! I saw a guy in san antonio with 2x4 decaled on the side of his truck. What is he gonna do go offroad his piece wood. Please guys dont refer to your 2wd as a 2x4...its WRONG.

Holly, I know exactly what you mean, it drives me nuts too. :wink: Let me see if I can help clear this up.

4x4 = 4 wheels driven by 4 wheels.

4x2 = 4 wheels driven by 2 wheels.

2x4 = piece of lumber measuring approximately 1.5" x 3.5" :roll:

Hope this helps those that didn't understand the terms. :)

As in the trimming down of the 2X4 wood so is the 4X2 and 4X4. None of them are what they claim.

Only old 2X4's are 2"x4" like the ones in my house (85years old) and for the vehicles...only with lockers :shock:

In real time a 4x4 = 4 wheels driven by 2 wheels (w/o a locker)

4x2 = 4 wheels driven by 1 wheel (unless limited slip hooks up)

and a 2x4 well you got it

(just being a pain in the butt :lol: )

"dualie" might be closer, as in dual rear tires as opposed to a duel to the death.

that said: would a dualie be a 6x4 or 6x6 (assuming it would have a working LSD or lockers)? :-)r
