Rusty's VS. Frankenlift

Hello,
We're planning on lifting our 2003 4x2 Freedom Edition. I've been reading many posts about both Rusty's and Frankenlift suspension lifts. It appears that these are the best of the lifts out there. What I would like to know, is if there is an advantage to one or the other? Any input is greatly appreciated.

are you taking your 4x2 offroad or do you want the lift mostly for the looks of it?

Both are quality lifts.

I own a 4X4 sport and am also in the market for a suspension lift...

I do know this about the Frankenlift..the front springs come pre-assembled unlike the Rustys which will require a spring compressor. Frankenlift is much more expensive w/ the OME struts but much easier to install and will have a great ride.

Just a suggestion...since you own a 4X2, if the lift is more for looks, a spacer lift would be a much better (and cheaper) idea w/ a taller tire (245). Definitly not trying to turn you away from wheeling w/ the 4X2 but the suspension lifts are pointless for those who won't wheel their rigs.

The lift will be 99% for looks. We only very rarely go off-road, and, it would be mild at best. The reason I hadn't considered a spacer lift is because I thought that the ride would be compromised. This is our daily driving family car. So, I'd like it's ride to be the same or better.

Nah...I know of people who wheel w/ spacer lifts, the ride won't be compromised, or shouldn't be if installed correctly. I think that it would be worth your time to research the spacer lifts availiable. You'll definitly save ALOT of money and time involved w/ purchasing and installing the lift if you go the spacer route. Just suggestions.

I would go with the Rustys coil lift. It is the best bang for the buck lift out there right now. If you do the install your self its very afordable.

Whichever route you go be sure to swap out the stock shocks and struts for better ones. My Ranchos make a nice difference for daily driving and off road. I think just replacing those will make for a better ride. (but the Jeep will love you for getting a lift for it too). There are 4wd's that get lifted and never taken off road, so why not do a 2wd that will see dirt at times.

Check out the RevTek.com lift...people use it offraod but it is very reasonable in price and fairly easy to install.

The second option that would be good would be the rocky-road.com "combo" lift.

The one that you could do so cheap it would hurt:
Clevis lift for the front...cost=$0.00
1.5" rear daystar pucs...cost=~$50.00

Ouch! lol Yea that wouldn't be a bad idea at all...try that solution w/ some taller tires. :wink:

Well, I decided to go with the Frankenlift for a couple reasons.

1. No spring compressor required.
2. Seems to come with all the "good" parts.

I have one problem though. For the past 3 days I've been leaving messages on the All J's message machine explaining that I want to order a lift. I have yet to get a call back. Are they doing so well that they don't need any more business? Anyway, thanks for all the input.

All J never returned my calls either, when I had install questions after purchase.
That should be a sign to possibly rethink your choice.

Ok... So Rusty's says that the Ranchos are too short to use on their lift. I thought everyone said that the Rancho's were sort of necessary for the rear on a Rusty's lift. Am I missing something?

I'd see if anyone local had the lift you are looking at. Take a ride before you spend a lot of money.

All J's is the only one you'll be able to get the frankenlift from it's thier design,as for rusty's I believe that is the same for them & the Rancho rsx's WILL fit get the 17004's for the rear thier actualy for the Durango I have them
