I was looking through some papers tonight when I came upon this:

Image

Not to sure how a muffler can lower the engine compartment temp, but I guess thats a good thing. :D

I wanna know what I am dealing with it before getting one from rusty. :) I just don't want a "little" improvement. Because $350 is just too much to pay for a little bit of sound difference.

I thought stock pipes were narrower, causing higher pitched sound, instead of growling sound which I would prefer very much. :)
But thanks for the info!

In places they are.. You can cut all that out when you get the new muffler put in. I did..

And my muffler sounds nothing like the one in that vid..

You mean nothing like the video link you posted in the topic starter?
If there isn't much of a difference from stock (which flowmaster indicates that there is supposed to be a huge difference in sound among OEM, 40 and 50 series from the charts on their pages) I think it is $100 down the drain.

Also I would probably ask the shop to replace the pipes with wider ones for deeper sound. I would hate it if it sounded like one of those hondas, or like half dead mule that's only noise.

Ohh yea, it sounds better! There isnt a doubt to that! Did someone tell you that it didnt?

I was talking about the vid the guy with the 40 series posted. Mine doesnt sound like that..

I layed my Jeep to the floor for the first time since having the muffler and got it up close to redline! If sounded insanely good!

And Idk if this is possible, but I read one time that the sound will change over time as the muffler heats up and cools down alot. Mine is not as loud as it was when I first put it in which is great. I felt like it was to loud but its perfect now! I love it. :D
