i'm wondering about air intake mods for my '05... thinking of doing a throttle body spacer and a k&n drop-in and keep my factory air-box for protection against water ingestion...

anyway, everywhere i go, i see stuff for '02-'04 but nothing that lists '05 models as being compatible... any word on any differences between '04 and '05 ? they look the same in all the pics i see as far as engine component layout, but wondering if there are any differences in the throttle body itself that would prevent the use of an '04 throttle body spacer.

reason i want to go with a spacer is i was watching Two Guys Garage on speed channel and they dyno'd a POS chevy truck w/ 305ci small block after they installed a spacer and it showed a significant gain just with the spacer... more than i thought it ever would...

any input on spacers in general as well?

thanks,

mb818

The K&N drop in air filter part number is 33-2233 I know it will fit the 04' and 05'.

I don't know about the spacer, since my 04' is going to be gone for a few days I can't compare.

The 05 changed over to throttle by wire like all other car companys are doing... so the throttle is actually controlled by the ECU instead of a cable from the foot pedal. The TB change over was in mid-year 05... so early 05's still have a cable TB(like mine) and the spacer will work on it. You can look at the throttle body to see which one you have... if there is a cable hooked to it, then you have the cable one... if there are only wires and connectors... you have an ECU controlled TB

Read the fine print with these products. I read a heavily marketed, heavily hyped K & N product the other day that showed 8 hp gain at 5400 rpm. At best a trivial difference and basically useless to most people.
