Post subject:  Brake Problems

So after 45,000 miles on my 03 KJ Renegade it is time for new breaks (and probably Rotors as well). I was thinking about putting better rotors on (slotted and drilled) I found a nice set, all four wheels, for like $280 on ebay. Then I would buy my own pads and do the work myself. The other option is take it somewhere and have them put new pads on and trim down my rotors smooth for about $220 overall I'm looking at a diff of about $100 more if I did the work, but have better parts. I'm not sure what to do. My main worry is that the rotors I am looking at are crappy. Here is the link.

I would do a search on the net for iROTORS and read what other people have to say.

I did and I even called them to ask about them and from what I can tell they are an e-bay store. The comments that people have abou them are all positive, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of them...etc.

JeepJunky, I did'nt buy from them but did buy from Wholesaledirectparts on Ebay. Got 4 cross drilled and slotted rotors that came Zinc plated and while I was at it replaced the front and rear pads with a set of Axiss Ultimate Pads. Everything was a direct replacement so it was easy to install and they work great. Braking performance is noticably increased.

Yeah I looked at that name as well. Thanks so much for the info. So you really like them? and how much were the pads all together? I have to do something. Right now it sounds like a plane is landing everytime I come to a stop. It's bad

Has anyone upgraded the rear drums to disks? If so, was it worth it.

I'm sure its an option to do that, but it doesn't seem that it would be worth the price to do so.

JeepJunky: I am running Powerslot rotors on the front (I have drums on the back) and EBC 6000 green brake pads, they work AMAZING! You can get the rotors for 190 or so for both at truckperformance.com

Take it eas ya'll,

ADAM

I kept searching cause at the time the price fluxuated between 290 and 245 on ebay. I ended up grabbing the 4 rotors for the 245 price. The 4 pad sets were like 60 or 80, something like that. The total ended up at roughly 320. They've been on about a year now. Both the wear and braking are great.

Just an update!!!! I ordered the rotors from irotors on ebay (drilled and slotted) and I just ordered brake pads from tirerack.com I got EBC Green Stuff 6000, for the front and rear. Cant wait to get them in and do the install. Maybe after that I'll finally get the jeep aligned and then get new tires. Thanks for all th help guys. When I do the install I'll start a new thread, but feel free to keep this one going.
