| Post subject: | Some questions for 4x2 owners |
Hey guys, I own an '03 Rennie but i have a friend who's looking to buy a 4x2 for basic transportation. I figured you guys would be the ones to ask.... 1. Gas mileage - much better than 4x4? 2. Pricing - really not familiar w/4x2s, what's going price? 3. Snow/wet weather performance - how is it? Basic opinions? Thanks for the help! Chris |

I get about 24 mpg average hiway. With a locker, its totally amazing. I've climbed and forded stuff that always blows my mind. Wet weather great. Never tried snow in it...Going thru snow or sand in the past with a posi traction, I could go many places in reverse I could not go foward. |

I had a 2X4 and the only difference was wet pavement - a bit too much gas and it gets slippery - as for snow, in a storm we had in Chicago - 4-5 inches deep it was harder to maneuver; after you get it going it was ok. I never paid attention to gas mileage hope it helps |

Did your 4x2 have a locker or LSD? They grab like flypaper on wet roads. the 1 wheel drive will spin a bunch. I have a chevy with a tru-trac and its the ultimate for wet pavement. I went from sliding around on wet takeoff or going up a wet hill to "Glue" and great control. If Auto makers truely cared about safety, they would install one as standard equipment...That much of a diff. |

I HEAR IT GETS 21 MPG UP BIG HILLS ON FREEWAY TO VEGAS PASSING HUMMERS AN XTERRAS DOING 80, BUT OF COURSE I WOULDNT BREAK THE SPEED LIMIT MYSELF, SO I SHOULD GET 22-24 IF I CHECKED RIGHT? THIS IS AN 05 RENNE 2X WITH 1500 MI. ON IT, SOMEDAY ILL CLOSE THE SUNROOF AND WINDOWS AND DO 65 JUST TO SEE....HMMMM. ITS A BEAST ON A GOOD DAY. SCREW THE RAIN, JUST BE SMART AND SAVE LIVES. MAINLY YOURS AND MINE. ITS A BLAST TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. THE ST TIRES ARE JUST B-B RATED, OH WELL. ILL BUY BETTER NEXT TIME. IF YOU WANT BETTER MILEAGE, BUY MY PARKED 97 COROLLA FOR $4.5K, ITS LONELY NOW ANYWAY. TONY "I GOT MUD MATS WOOHOO AN MO COMIN" |

I GET ABOUT 18 MPH IN CITY WITH SOME FREEWAY DRIVING. ON HWY I COULD NOT TELL AS I ALWAYS BREAK THE LAW AND SPEED BUT SHOULD GET AROUND 24 MPG. SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME PRICE FOR A 4X4. PRICING BETWEEN THE 2X AND 4X IS ABOUT THE SAME DEPENDING ON TRIM PACKAGE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE 4X WITH A LOWER TRIM PACKAGE. THAT IS TRUE WHERE I LIVE IN GEORGIA. |
