Is anyone running the Jet stage 2 chip and if so what kind of gains/losses are you experiencing and what other mods are you running with it? |

Get a B&G flash for $350. It works really well. Lost 5 hp on the dyno with a Jet Stage 1. I offered to send it back to them with the dyno sheets so it could be corrected, but they were extremely rude to me and accused me of buying a defective chip off Ebay. They knew I had bought it new and still had the receipt. Then they offered to write a custom chip for an additional $400 since the $250 chip didn't work. |

I had the Jet Chip Stage 1 installed for a while until the tranny fluid started leaking and my tranny went. Not sure if it was caused by the chip or not but I didn't bother reinstalling it. I also have the K&N intake & Flowmaster cat back on the liberty which I will not take off. I never had any luck with chips in my previous vehicles either. |

Do you find that the intake and the exhaust make a difference. Have they changed yor mileage at all? |

Intake and exhaust make a great difference. with a K & N cold air intake and a magnalfow i gained somewhere around 20 hp, and its sounds AWESOME as well. |

I noticed the difference when going on long trips (highway miles). The MPG went up to around 19/20. The intake/exhaust combo does sound real nice on the Jeep. I noticed the RPM's revved a lot faster with the chip. |

I ran the Stage 1 and upgraded to the Stage 2. The Stage 1 didn't seem to do anything. I found a deal on a Stage 2 so I upgraded. It's still not a night and day difference, but there is some improvement. I run 92/93 octane 100% of the time, otherwise the chip didn't seem to make any difference and made the mpg's worse. If you can get a deal on one (I got mine for $50 off ebay) I'd go for it. If you are going to pay the list price, I'd consider the B&G flash. |

If your Jeep is NOT detonating, then your just making the Oil companies richer. The only difference in the gasoline grades IS the octane level. |

I just installed a stage 2 and I can tell a difference in power. I also have a k&n intake and magnaflow exhaust. Gas mileage seems to have improved! although I havn't ran multiple tanks in all different situations yet. I paid 125.00$ for mine new, so im very happy with it. Of course you have to run 91 octane, but I would not have bought a 4x4 jeep liberty if I were worried about gas mileage/cost |

Oh, and Katmandu. You DO NOT WANT to detonate a cast aluminum piston! You cant always hear detonation either. While the computer has the ability to pull timing upon detonation, it can only pull so much based on the programing. If The manufacturer says run 91, then run 91 (with the stage 2). |

The only difference in the gasoline grades IS the octane level. it is detonating....otherwise it wouldn't be running! i believe you mean pre-detonating...no, it was not, however the change in the timing curves apparently can make use of the extra octane. where i live, the difference in price for grades of gas is generally 10 cents. so i generally pay 20 cents more per gallon of gas. if 87 octane is $2 a gallon, i pay a 10% premium for 93 octane; however if said gas is $3 a gallon, i pay a 6.7% premium...so basicly the more gas costs, the smaller % the incremental cost is to run the really expensive stuff and since i get better gas mileage using the expensive stuff, they are actually "loosing" money because they aren't increasing the price difference between the grade of gas! |

The proper term is "pre-ignition" or detonation. FYI |

I read that the JET chips are only tuned to Wide Open Throttle (WOT). Not very beneficial for on-road daily-driving. |

The only difference in the gasoline grades IS the octane level. That's really weird. Your pinging problem should be much worse with that JET Stage II and 85 octane. Sounds like you need at least 87 without it. I would think 89+ with the Stage II even at that elevation. I have to use 92+ here. Have you ever dyno'd it? The problem we ran into here at 1100 feet with the Stage 1 had to do with the torque management. The computer compensated for the chip by retarding the timing and richining up the mix to around a 10:1 AFR. Netted a loss of power to the ground across the entire RPM range. On the SOP dyno, it felt a little different, but didn't really feel more powerful. |
