I want to get a new performance exhaust system but a friend of mine who is good with trucks said that is a bad idea. he told me to stay with the factory exhaust system otherwise you can mess up your engine over time. is this true?... i wanted to get either a gibson exhaust system or JBA but now im not so sure...

You don't need an entire exhaust system, for example, a cat-back. Cat-back systems and stock exhaust are both 2-1/2" dia.

I went with a Magnaflow muffler only, 14" long - it was all of $140 installed professionally. I like the sound, didn't notice anything performance-wise. Don't waste your money on the intakes, etc. Put your $$$ into lift, armor, bumpers, etc.

There's plenty to read on this subject, check the threads. :D

No, that is not true at all.

Changing a muffler will not hurt anything.
