That is what I would do
it is 2wd so you will not be hitting any trails with it
I think a spacer lift is fine in this situation

Do some custom rear coils and Bilsteins, custom front coil-overs (since you don't have to worry about the clevis for 4wd) and pre-runner it out w/ custom tube bumpers front and rear, throw a locker in back and then try going fast! ......... or just use a spacer lift......
Some day I do hope to see someone pre-runner a 2wd out just for kicks. W/ an ARB locker in back it would make a fun little wheeler that would go many places and still drive sweet on road.

I really don't mean to be a jerk, but...

WHY?

Seams like it would be like kissing your sister, What's the point? Trade it in on a 4x4 and let's talk.

Go for it, would like to see someone with a real pre runner 2 wheel drive, bet it would go pretty good, plus less wear and tear. For cheap go with Daystar
I have been thinking about doing one for my wife just for S&Gs

FYI - because your 2wd - you're not limited to 2 1/2 - 3" lifts - your limit becomes the angle of the rear driveshaft.
you might start thinking about 5-6"

All great ideas above (kissing your cousin is even acceptable in certain parts of the WV & KY, must by why the guy from KY brought it up   ), but for a budget, as you mentioned, go with a RevTek lift (or a Daystar), a PowerTrax locker, and an air induction system into a K&N filer (yes, you can use flex-tube to get air around the passenger side of the engine bay from one of the front slits into the airbox). Your bud wont know what hit him, and you'll have spent less than half a G on the whole thing (if you do the work). Now if you find a few extra G's, well then - 6" lift, 33" MT's, 4.10 gears,...

I wouldn't necassarily say that. You gotta keep an eye on them balljoint angles too up front. Wouldn't need one of them failin.
