A friend of mine has a G-tech pro model RR for measuring HP, Torque, and 0-60 mph times, so I thought I would give it a shot. Accurate or not, it is at least consistent, so I thought I'd share my findings. I did a couple baseline runs and averaged 127 HP and 144 ft-lbs of torque--all this with the stock air filter. The next two runs I did with the EAA201-EA Amsoil Absolute Efficiency Air Filter and got the following results: Run #1: 132 HP 149 ft-lbs Run #2: 134 HP 152 ft-lbs 7 HP and 8 ft-lbs gain. Keep in mind that this HP and torque numbers factor in tire and wind resistance, so they would be lower than an actual wheel dyno. I have an 2004 Liberty with full mopar skids, and OME suspension lift. |

I have an 2004 Liberty with full mopar skids, and OME suspension lift. If you factor in a 0.421 drag coefficient, and 29.74 sqaure feet of frontal area at 60 mph, you're losing around 18 hp. That puts you at 145 rwhp, which is actually really close, and doesn't factor in the rolling resistance of the tires. We'll take the average of your 2 runs with the new air filter, and then you're at 151 rwhp. You have to consider that the stock 155 hp to the ground is on a Dynojet, which reads about the highest of any of the dynos. Probably 140-145 rwhp on something more accurate such as a Dyno Dynamics, Mustang, or Superflow. It's not uncommon for Dynojets to read up to 15% higher than a correctly calibrated dyno measuring your true hp. Also, most of the manufacturers correct their stock dyno numbers to have it put about 80% of the claimed 210 engine hp to the ground. That is where they get 165-170 rwhp numbers that you see. The KJ actually won't do that without quite a few mods. |

I am going to guess that the baseline run was w/ a New, clean stock filter right? Interesting results. Care to try a run w/ no filter just for kicks? |
