time to get front rotors/disks....never had slotted or drilled rotors, are they worth the extra expense? approx. $140 a pair vs. around $40 each for standard.

Hi Bob.

I would just go with the regular standard ones. I would just think the slotted ones might get clogged with small rocks or mud and stuff. That's a lot of difference in price too.

Just my opinion.

Hey Dave....well, i ordered Powerslot rotors, and EBC pads....about $380
the dealership wanted 500 to install standard stuf, and truthfully, even from new, i've never been impressed with the stopping quality of the original brakes. Glad to hear from ya!!

The word I got from some people who race trucks was that slotted rotors were the way to go on a heavy truck or suv. I used SP slotted rotors on my Land Cruiser and Hawk pads. The results were awesome. Not only did they wear great but the stopping power was better than stock. I had 60k miles on those brakes and they were still going strong when I sold the truck.

This outfit is very knowledgable about brakes:

raceshopper.com

The quote was $165 for the SP performance slotted rotors and $80 for the Hawk LTS pads.

I'm sure I'll need them soon since the stock rotors seem to warp around 40k miles.

I have Power Slot rotors, when it was time to change out the stock rotors pads I changed to Power Slot to assist with the additional tire size and weight from mods. So far I am very happy with their perfomance. The rotors are only slotted, not drilled,

I hadn't considered Alberts point that the drilled holes may catch some gravel, and now that I think about it I am glad mine are only slotted as I haven't had any issues with the slots.

I was just talking to a place here in town that can get me the front brakes and pads for $86+tax. I don't think theres a brand name, but hey, for that money, lets see how long they last 8)

the purpose of the slots are only to prevent gas, and water fade, so on a dry day under normal stopping conditions, they shouldnt perform any differant.

Yes! They work well in extreme conditions, like BAJA racing and when I go offroading all day.

That's odd,my PowerSlots and Napa Ceramic pads were 100% better then the OEM stuff.Must be those EBC pads, never really heard anything good about them anyways, alot of $$$ for little gain in any.
