No problem. Got a service guy coming to fix the printer on Tuesday. Then we are back in business and I can get the test models done.

I have one question though. I hope one of the old-timers, or mods can answer this question for me. I would like to put the L.O.S.T. logo engraved on the airbox adapter. Is that a trademarked or registered logo? Who would I need to get permission from to add it to the parts?

Here are pics of mine. The 2 black plastic pieces are one-of-a-kind. I have access to a 3D Printer at work and made them on that machine.

How does this work out when it is raining, though?

I have run it in very heavy rains at highway speed and haven't had any trouble. The 3" hose runs up vertical and then the airbox adapter dumps straight down into the airbox. This combination pushes any water to the bottom of the airbox rather than directly towards the filter. After driving in the first heavy rain with this setup, I pulled into the garage and checked the filter as soon as I got home. The filter element was dry, so I feel safe running this way. Now if you try to run thru water deeper than the grill intake funnel, you would be in trouble.

I would imagine so. Haha. Did it improve on anything DRASTICALLY?

Seat-of-the-pants Dyno feels a little increase in get up and go. MPG before the mod was typically 16-16.5. After the intake it went to 17.3 to as high as 18.5 at times. All mixed driving. Highway only I have gotten as high as 22.7. Since then, I have lifted and gotten heavier tires, so it has dropped back to the 16.5 range.

Yes. I have them both re-made and test fit. All looks good. I think I am going to start a new thread next week to take orders for them. I am out of town this week, and can start making the first production ones next week. I can't use the LOST logo though. There is a possibility of liability for them if I add it. This version works for 05-07 models. I have someone checking basic dims on the 02-04 to see if the holes line up. Then I guess they will need to test fit one.

Here are the dims that I need for someone to verify on the 02-04 models. Need to make sure the mounting holes will line up. Can someone please take a look at theirs and let me know. I assume there are some differences, since they don't have the fogs right there. If it is drastically different, please take some pics and measurements and I will make a second version for 02-04.

Here are some pics of how it is installed in mine so that you can see how it fits...

I actually only use the upper hole to hold mine in place. The second hole lines up, but I haven't ever attached it there and it seems to hold just fine.

If the weather warms up here I'll take the grille off to check my grille layout. even if they don't line up - I'll find a way to make it work.

Kinda hard to tell if that will work without having one in hand and trying to fit it up.

Where you have yours mounted is where the tranny cooler lines hook-up. I THINK it may fit above it but its kinda tight behind the plastic around the rad support.

Image

Image

Image

Tried to get a pic down behind the plastic but couldnt get a good one. The hose may fit under that plastic piece you see and above the tranny cooler lines. May be crushed just a tad.

Image

Image

The distance between the two mounted points(which are in a different spot) is not 4". Its more like 3.25' but I didnt take the clips out to get a better pic(its cold!).

Image

Width is just at tick under 3.5', exactly 3.5 may be a little tight. Whats the depth on yours?

I am, however, a little worried about a really hard rain filling the air box up with water. I know that is a problem on the CRD's. Guess I could drill the holes a little bigger in the bottom of the air box to make sure that it can drain really good.

The CRD guys were primarily complaining about their factory “paper” air filter getting saturated. This is why I addressed the issue in the above post about using an AMSOIL air filter because they do not absorb water, hold water, nor do they let water pass through the filter. Amsoil filters are made to endure the outside elements when being exposed. If I was a CRD guy, I would do the 3.7 air box and the “TEXAN” custom air intake. More cold air = more oxygen = more power = better fuel economy. :D

ok so Im gonna need help with all of this. So you say the 3.7 airbox mod is a better way to go with the LTT set up? If so I gotta find that post from years ago about the airbox mod...

Has anyone tried my cold air intake mod? My intake mod allows fording of water to a depth similar to the stock intake. Of course if you don't wheel it really doesn't matter. I have also recently trimmed back the edge of the plastic grill at the top of the headlight an extra 1/4"; further enlarging the opening from what is seen the the photos below.

Kugellagers Intake Mod

@LTT I currently have a piece of sheet metal as a bottom platform for the intake. I was wondering if I made a large wad of aluminum foil and crushed it in the hood to make a shape of the intake space I have devised; would that be something that could be cadded into some sort of 3D scoop and printed? Then it would be a much smoother form for flow into the air box.

Just wondering.
